About this listen

People who have read my books, particularly “The War of Art” and its cousins, have a vague idea of the odyssey of a particular solitary guy, wracked with guilt and riven by self-doubt, as he struggles toward his destiny as a writer. But they have only the scantiest conception of the particulars of that journey.

These particulars I’m hoping may be of use to others as they wrestle with their own version of that same odyssey.

So let me try to strip it down.

Let me tell the parts I normally leave out.

The way this was written and narrated made me feel nostalgic for a time I never knew. It's almost romantic in a way that is completely informative. I loved every minute.

Years ago, Steven Pressfield’s book The War of Art unlocked something in me that changed my life. Now reading Stevens story about his own journey and struggles as a writer, I feel humbled and inspired to keep going with my own passions. Govt Cheese is a real life example of the numerous failures necessary to find success. A reminder to everyone who reads it, that life is messy, and it’s supposed to be. Just keep going. Thank you Steven for this book.

Holy shit, this stuff is great. I’m halfway through. I grew up in the South, in a small, industrial, oilfield town and he has perfectly captured people and place.
I’m a big fan and this might be his best yet.

He really gets it
