About this listen

A swoony, heart-wrenching small-town romance from USA Today and Wall Street Journal best seller Sarina Bowen!

Leila:

What I meant to do: quietly divorce my lout of a husband and then have a child all on my own.

What happens instead: my crush comes back to town when I’m at my most vulnerable. After too many cocktails, I ask him to be my baby’s father.

In my defense, it’s been a rough couple of months. Seeing Matteo Rossi again after 14 years has done a number on my emotions. And my libido.

In the morning, I’m hoping he’s forgotten the whole thing. But no such luck. In fact, Matteo has a few clarifying questions. And a few naughty ideas, too....

Matteo:

What I meant to do: visit Vermont for my brother’s wedding. Make amends to my family, and mourn the loss of a friend.

What happens instead: a hot affair with the one who got away. But it can’t last. My life is 2,000 miles away, and Leila deserves everything. She’s as good as gold.

This one didn’t quite hit my normal Sarina Bowen mark as the female narrator’s performance over shadow the experience. Jason Clarke was brilliant as always.

Love Sarina Bowen

Male voice and store are great, hard to push through otherwise.

A love story about 2 best friends who find each other after being apart for 20 years or 14 for Matteo. And then their story begins..

I had a lot of uh issue with Leia (or however her name is spelt) and i had a lot of trouble really relating too and liking her a character. Without giving away spoilers, I feel like this maybe could've been done a bit better but maybe I'm too harsh.

I'm not saying Matteo was perfect either but the female lead, the issues i had with her and such really irked me.

I did make me interested to possibly listen to other Matteo's siblings books aswell as Nash and Livia, though given this writing style I'm a bit reluctant to waste my money & credits.

Love hate relationship with this book

have heard the other stories re the Rossi siblings and this is great in the series. Male narrator is great but disappointed in female narrator.

lovely story but....

I wasn't invested in, nor taken away by this one. felt like it lacked the depth that earlier ones in series reached, characters and storyline more 2 dimensional. Also found key premise stretching plausibility - including for characters themselves. would have been happier spending credits on something else I think.

okay, not as good as earlier ones

I definitely enjoyed this story and these two . I especially loved listening to Jason and Lessa who did a fabulous job bringing this story to life . Can’t wait for the next instalment ✨🤎✨🤎✨

Beautiful ✨💜
