Publisher's Summary

J.T. Ellison's pulse-pounding new psychological thriller examines the tenuous bonds of friendship, the power of lies, and the desperate lengths people will go to in order to protect their secrets.

Goode girls don't lie....

Perched atop a hill in the tiny town of Marchburg, Virginia, The Goode School is a prestigious prep school known as a Silent Ivy. The boarding school of choice for daughters of the rich and influential, it accepts only the best and the brightest. Its elite status, long-held traditions and honor code are ideal for preparing exceptional young women for brilliant futures at Ivy League universities and beyond. But a stranger has come to Goode, and this ivy has turned poisonous.

In a world where appearances are everything, as long as students pretend to follow the rules, no one questions the cruelties of the secret societies or the dubious behavior of the privileged young women who expect to get away with murder. But when a popular student is found dead, the truth cannot be ignored. Rumors suggest she was struggling with a secret that drove her to suicide.

But look closely…because there are truths and there are lies, and then there is everything that really happened.

Don't miss this fast-paced suspense story from New York Times best-selling author J.T. Ellison!

Great story line. Progressed we’ll and kept me entertained. However I think it ended a bit quickly.

Entertaining

This was an entertaining story but not very spooky or thrilling. The characters were only moderately well developed. It could have used an infusion of descriptive language. With just a bit more effort atmosphere could have been developed, a sense of place, ambiance, all these things are necessary for a great story. I found it a little 2 D. I wish that writers would truly try and develop these characters, why they do what they do , what are their “drivers”, you know? Also, a spooky, secluded boarding school for girls in rural VA rife with its own ghost stories should have/could have been a very scary, tense, haunting read. This was good but not great. If some of these elements were added (ambiance, character motivations more thoroughly explored) this would have been a fantastic book. As it is, a solid good. Lacking important aspects though...

WOW!

This was a twisty, turney little book. It was definitely hard to stop listening. The storyline just sucks you in and doesn't let go. Great job with narration as well. I was entertained ! Thank you

A clever story surrounded by boredom.

So disappointed in this book, Ellison will no longer be an automatic buy for me. While the story was clever, it was so boring all the way through. None of the characters were interesting enough to care about. It's a boarding school with the girl gone bad theme which has been done many, many times by other authors. I'd skip this one if I could go back in time. The narration was good, but not great.

Disappointed

I was looking forward to reading this and it had some great reviews. I ended up being very disappointed. was confused most of the time I was listening to this book. Only reason I finished it was because I didn’t want my credit to go to waste. Thumbs down for this one.

Great Story, but...

I really enjoyed this story and thought it was very well written with some excellent twists and turns. The performance however, was sometimes difficult to follow. I think it would have played better with a narrator that is American but can do an authentic English accent, or at the very least, an English narrator who is far better at American accents. The Goode School was set in Virginia, and yet none of the students or the head mistress spoke with southern accents. My husband and his family are from Virginia and they have subtle, yet discernible southern accents. She often fluctuated within one character’s “voice” so that it was difficult to tell which character was speaking. Overall though, I enjoyed the story itself.

meh.

Wanted to love this, but it was too convoluted and too drawn out. The narrator had some odd speech patterns that I found annoying. Overall not worth the credit, in my opinion .

I love this author!

This one had me guessing for quite a while!! Loved the backdrop of the old girl’s school! Loved the characters and the suspicions that weave their way through the entire plot! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Loved the Story

I'm becoming a fan of this author and this storyline didn't disappoint. I found it hard to put away. However the male characters narrator voices made it almost unbearable at times, especially the sheriffs voice. It was impossible to tell his age, his accent, or any emotion. Overall still a great book.

Wonderful book

You never expect this kind of plot from a teenager, but I guess either imagining or in reality everything is possible. I love all the twists and turns on all of his books. You can’t never guess, it’s always at the end. Really good book.

Meh

I couldn’t actually finish it, my attention just was not held... I gave it 3 to account for the fact I may have stopped before it got better?
