Loved it

I was sad when I realised the end chapters were coming, as I know I will have to wait until the author releases another book. I have read or listened to every single book by this author and I have given 5 stars for every single one. I hope that this is the start of a series I loved the two main characters and can’t wait to see what happens to them in the future if there is a follow up book. Highly recommend this book. I waited in long anticipation for the release date on this book and I wasn’t disappointed. Will be a long wait till the next one!

He's done it again

I can't believe that Micahel Robotham has been able to hook me in again, but it's true, he has. Cyrus Haven is my new crush. Buy and read you won't be disappointed.

Wonderfully unpredictable!

Such a fascinating, fast-paced novel, I raced through this! My only disappointment is that I have to wait to read the next book in the series! Bring it on, please!!

BRILLIANT!!

Great new characters and brilliant new narrator, I kept forgetting it was just the one reader, every character sounded completely different, best reading I've ever heard (although I do love listening to Joe O'Loughlin read by Sean Barrett)!
Michael Robotham writes in a way which makes you just want to keep reading/listening! You know you've loved a book when you miss the characters and can't wait to meet them again!

Outstanding! Brilliant! Welcome Cyrus and Evie.

The door is wide open for a surrogate Joe O'Loughlin to enthrall us with his incredible thinking. Any serious reader would struggle to give this less than 5 stars. Nothing is perfect. This is as near as you get for enthralling reading. Joe Jameson's narration is deserving of an Oscar.

Good book

I have been waiting for this read for ages. And it’s not a disappointment it’s a great read. Terrific characters and a romping story. The reader also was great. I love Michael Robothams stories they get better and better.

Brilliant Performance

The narration by Joe Jameson is outstanding, you’d almost believe that each character is read by a different person. It is this performance that really makes the book.

I enjoyed the story and loved the 2 main characters. However, I felt the story overall was missing a layer of complexity about it. It almost came to answers too abruptly and didn’t leave enough little clues to keep me guessing. Still liked it though. Would recommend.

bad voices

the way he did the voices was really unrealistic to me. the story was okay but may have been better if it wasn't an audiobook for me

Genuine observation of life, highly recommended

I have listened to so many books and never bothered to write a review. Somehow this book grasped my attention and I listened to it during all my spare hours I could ever have. The author created the beautiful Physolgist who is a true angel. I never liked an open ending but I forgive the author for this - it makes me to re-examine my life and cherish what I have. A good read for me!!!

Marvellously interwoven threads of plot!

Another fantastic stand - alone novel from Mr Robotham, ( but with the tiniest of nods to Joseph O'Loughlin at the end to ensure avid readers know that he still resides in the author's mind.)
A great read all round: I definitely recommend the novel to any fan of this genre, whether or not you've enjoyed Michael Robotham before, because they get better and better each time.

Absolutely first rate

As you'd expect from Michael Robotham - a good plot with main characters that you care about. Surely we are going to hear more of Sirius and Evie. I certainly hope so. Joe Jameson, a new narrator for me, was absolutely up to the mark.

Best Robotham for a long time!

Great story, involving two damaged individuals, psychiatrist and teenager, coming together amidst murder and mayhem. Very well read. Not sure that the ending tied up all the strands in a neat bow, which could mean more from these characters, or, like the Joe O’Loughlin stories, more from just our psych. Don’t lose the spiky girl with uncanny intuition though, she’s too good!

Robotham at his best

Been looking for a good read and been a little disappointed with some of the new books around then I found this. Riveting story. Excellent narration. Guessing an awful lot of research done by Michael for the settings of the story. A powerful story.

Good read from Robotham but not as good as others

If I am honest the lead character didn’t get to me like him as much as Jospeh Oloughlin. However I enjoyed the storyline and and the premise.

I suspect there will be a book two, of so, the main character needs some depth to him. A good read, not one of the authors better books.

I am still unsure about the narrator...

Well worth a listen!

Slow start which was not particularly inspiring and the narration was not very inspiring either BUT it did get better as the characters developed. So much so, that the narrator overall did an excellent job and I found the story very moving although quite disturbing at times and a real insight into this side of life as well as the psychology. As a big Michael Robotham fan, I missed the Joseph O'Loughlin character, but he did get a mention at the end and Cyrus is coming on well!

Great listen twisty thriller

I love this author and was not disappointed. This is a good meaty thriller. I imagine that it is being set up as a series as there were plenty of threads left hanging suggesting a follow-up. I always enjoy the psychological component to this authors books and felt it was very strong in this story. My only issue was the narrator's voice for Evie I think it's very hard for a man to convincingly convey the voice of a teenage girl it just sounded silly and camp and this did slightly spoil my overall enjoyment.

Not classic Robotham but good enough

Robotham is a master. I desperately miss the old characters of Joseph O'Loughlin, his side kick Ruiz and the girls but this comes close.

You really can't beat this master of crime thriller.

More please ...

Great read but oh my god dreadful narration

I absolutely love Michael Robotham books and have been waiting for this one I did enjoy the story and am intrigued by the new characters and hope there is more to come BUT the narrator was awful so bad in fact I wish more than anything I had just bought the book his women were terrible they all became northern fish wives for no apparent reason a bit like ( the great ) Victoria wood gone wrong the men spoke as though they were all inexplicably stupid slow deep ponderous voices the narration of our main character made him annoying and boring why oh why oh why was Sean Barrett not narrating this he is in a different league and I have very much enjoyed Lucy price Lewis narrating Robothsm too I’m afraid Joe Jameson spoiled this for me and I shall avoid him in the future a shame because as always Robothams story was good
