Mediocre
Every exchange is along the lines of:

“Why did x happen”
“Okay I’ll tell you everything”
Pointless main characters.

BRILLIANT!!
Great new characters and brilliant new narrator, I kept forgetting it was just the one reader, every character sounded completely different, best reading I've ever heard (although I do love listening to Joe O'Loughlin read by Sean Barrett)!
Michael Robotham writes in a way which makes you just want to keep reading/listening! You know you've loved a book when you miss the characters and can't wait to meet them again!

Outstanding! Brilliant! Welcome Cyrus and Evie.
The door is wide open for a surrogate Joe O'Loughlin to enthrall us with his incredible thinking. Any serious reader would struggle to give this less than 5 stars. Nothing is perfect. This is as near as you get for enthralling reading. Joe Jameson's narration is deserving of an Oscar.

Loved it
I was sad when I realised the end chapters were coming, as I know I will have to wait until the author releases another book. I have read or listened to every single book by this author and I have given 5 stars for every single one. I hope that this is the start of a series I loved the two main characters and can’t wait to see what happens to them in the future if there is a follow up book. Highly recommend this book. I waited in long anticipation for the release date on this book and I wasn’t disappointed. Will be a long wait till the next one!

A worthwhile whodunnit story
So it's a typical Michael Robotham saga characterised by clues leading you off and on the beaten track ending up being the least likely person to have done it. However, the story is always worth sticking to You can't really stop listening and, somewhat surprisingly, I rather liked Jo Jameson's laconic narration which successfully negotiated many personas including the many female characters. In fact, I would say he significantly added to the books interest. Not a literary piece but a worthwhile read and I was most content to tune in almost anytime without losing track of where I was,

An interesting and promising start to a new series
An interesting and promising start to a new series from Michael Robotham. The series features a forensic psychologist called Cyrus Haven, a man who is haunted by the childhood experience of finding his family gruesomely murdered by his own brother. While investigating the death of a champion figure skater, Cyrus becomes involved with a gifted but damaged teenager with traumatic experiences of her own. Michael Robotham has produced another well crafted book with well developed characters, plots and back stories interwoven with regular twists and turns that will have you constantly readjusting the way you understand the story and characters. If you like this author don't miss this book, the narration by Joe Jameson was a bit average, but the book still went into the top tier of my library.

Marvellously interwoven threads of plot!
Another fantastic stand - alone novel from Mr Robotham, ( but with the tiniest of nods to Joseph O'Loughlin at the end to ensure avid readers know that he still resides in the author's mind.)
A great read all round: I definitely recommend the novel to any fan of this genre, whether or not you've enjoyed Michael Robotham before, because they get better and better each time.

Best Robotham for a long time!
Great story, involving two damaged individuals, psychiatrist and teenager, coming together amidst murder and mayhem. Very well read. Not sure that the ending tied up all the strands in a neat bow, which could mean more from these characters, or, like the Joe O’Loughlin stories, more from just our psych. Don’t lose the spiky girl with uncanny intuition though, she’s too good!

Good read from Robotham but not as good as others
If I am honest the lead character didn’t get to me like him as much as Jospeh Oloughlin. However I enjoyed the storyline and and the premise.
I suspect there will be a book two, of so, the main character needs some depth to him. A good read, not one of the authors better books.
I am still unsure about the narrator...

Well worth a listen!
Slow start which was not particularly inspiring and the narration was not very inspiring either BUT it did get better as the characters developed. So much so, that the narrator overall did an excellent job and I found the story very moving although quite disturbing at times and a real insight into this side of life as well as the psychology. As a big Michael Robotham fan, I missed the Joseph O'Loughlin character, but he did get a mention at the end and Cyrus is coming on well!
