Summary

Sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things . . .

'An author you need to check out' - Harlan Coben, author of I Will Find You

From the author of His and Hers, now a major TV series produced by Jessica Chastain.

The Queen of Twists, bestselling author of Daisy Darker and Rock Paper Scissors Alice Feeney, returns with another gripping mystery filled with drama and her trademark surprises in Good Bad Girl.

Twenty years after a baby is stolen from her push-chair, a woman is murdered in a care home. The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth.

Edith may have been tricked into a nursing home, but at eighty-years-young, she’s planning her escape. Patience works there, cleaning up mess and bonding with Edith, a kindred spirit. But Patience is lying to Edith about almost everything.

Edith’s own daughter, Clio, won’t speak to her. And someone new is about to knock on Clio’s door . . . and their intentions aren’t good.

With every reason to distrust each other, the women must solve a mystery with three suspects, two murders, and one victim. If they do, they might just find out what happened to the baby who disappeared, the mother who lost her, and the connections that bind them.

Critic Reviews

Daisy Darker is clever, compelling, confounding and absolutely delicious. (Lisa Jewell on Daisy Darker)
Wow! Echoes of Christie's And Then There Were None but turned into something wonderfully original and wrapped in a genuinely creepy dysfunctional family fairy tale of a novel, this takes Feeney to the next level. LOVED IT! (Sarah Pinborough on Daisy Darker)
Wow, I absolutely loved it. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was an absolute thrill (Taylor Jenkins Reid on Daisy Darker)
This book is all kinds of twisty, and it's SO much fun (Praise for Daisy Darker)

Initially I feared the story might become mired in evil aged care home misery. Luckily I was wrong and the story was twisty, richly drawn, unpredictable and truly satisfying.

Complex and fascinating

Great story and told well! Will look for more with the same author
Surprise twist at the end was great

I feel like this book was a bit too confusing. The twists at the end all make sense and it came together well, however I felt the jumping between time zones got chaotic and messy.

The narration was well done.

A bit slow at times, but still had decent plot twists.

Where do I begin? Alice Feeney, you've just become my favourite author after smashing out one great novel after another.

Good Bad Girl hooks you right from the start by throwing suspense at you from the beginning. The story is told between 2 timelines: 20 years ago on Mother’s Day, a baby is snatched at a supermarket. In present day, we have four main female protagonists, each carrying their own secrets.

Good Bad Girl is a thought provoking novel that dives deep into complex mother/daughter relationships. Heart breaking at times, the book resonates on a deep level with it's exploration of traditional gender roles and how society expects women to respond in certain situations. Add a couple of murders to the mix and the unsolved mystery of a missing baby and THE Queen of Twisty Thrillers has done it again, with a big reveal right at the end.

Narration by Katherine Press was superb! Stephanie Racine is a great reader however, she sounds the same in every single Alice Feeney novel. It would be great if she varied (and lowered) her voice a little for different characters.

Wow! Missing baby. Murder. Secrets

Couldn’t put this one down and desperately wanted to know if the baby would ever be found! In true Alice Feeney style, so many twists at the end!

Twisty and delicious
