About this listen

Crimson Lake is where bad people come to disappear - and where eight-year-old boys vanish into thin air . . .

On the fifth floor of the White Caps Hotel, four young friends are left alone while their parents dine downstairs. But when Sara Farrow checks on the children at midnight, her son is missing. The boys swear they stayed in their room, and CCTV confirms Richie has not left the building. Despite a thorough search, no trace of the child is found.

Distrustful of the police, Sara turns to Crimson Lake’s unlikeliest private investigators: disgraced cop Ted Conkaffey and convicted killer Amanda Pharrell. This case just the sort of twisted puzzle that gets Amanda’s blood pumping.

For Ted, the case couldn’t have come at a worse time. Two years ago a false accusation robbed him of his career, his reputation and most importantly his family. But now Lillian, the daughter he barely knows, is coming to stay in his ramshackle cottage by the lake.

Ted must dredge up the area’s worst characters to find a missing boy. And the kind of danger he uncovers could well put his own child in deadly peril . . .

Refreshingly different ambience and approach for a crime novel. It reminds me of Australian made movies, somehow threading warmth and humour into a serious plot and making it deliciously entertaining. The narrator captured the characters well.

Great Aussie read

Listened to all three Crimson Lake stories in succession, and now feel bereft without Amanda, Ted, Celine and the geese family, not to mention the crocs and bikies. Hilariously Australian characters and black humour. Totally recommend for a good laugh out loud.

Love this book. I couldn’t stop listening as soon as I started it. It made laugh out so loud and at times may be a bit sad for Ted but all in all a great story and likeable characters! Amanda is just hilarious!! And Ted is a softy and just wonderful with Lilly, the goose and ducks!! A good listen, don’t miss it!

Well done Candice, another fab instalment if the Crimson Lake series. I love your character development and your writing style is not bogged down with needless detail.

Lani has also done a great job. I’m glad he was used again as there is nothing worse then when a narrator is changed throughout the series.
Fab work team.

Loved it.
