About this listen

Harlan Coben was voted winner of the Bestseller Dagger at the 2009 Crime Writers' Association's Crime Thriller awards .

On October 17, 11 years ago, Julie Miller was found brutally strangled in the basement of her house in the township of Livingston, New Jersey. On that day, Will's brother, Ken Klein, became the subject of an international manhunt accused of the crime. He has not been seen since.

Will has tried to get on with his life in the intervening years. He has a beautiful new girlfriend, Sheila, and a job working with the homeless. But when his mother reveals on her deathbed that Ken is still alive, and shortly afterwards Sheila disappears, the cracks start to show in his landscape again. But it is only when he finds that Sheila herself is wanted for a savage double-murder that his life actually starts to fall apart...

Re-read this book to get characters, story and places clear. Still an entertaining classic Coben.

Will is like agent 86 in Get Smart… clueless. Nevertheless, a good listen because Tim Machin is an artist.

I purchased this title to read along with the book, but the narrator skips whole chunks of the book! Not just a sentence here and there, but whole paragraphs. It cut out a lot of detail and I couldn’t listen to it at all. Frustrating.

Skips whole paragraphs!

Listened to the whole thing hoping for something better than the cynical playing with stereotypes. Nah, sorry, cartoonish characters, amorality and no subtlety or style.

Cartoonish nonsense
