About this listen

With her trademark effervescence, Goldie delivers a personal look at private and powerful events that carried her through life: her father’s spontaneity; her mother’s courage; and the joy of being a daughter, a sister, a parent, and a lover. She writes about her childhood dreams of becoming a ballerina. She takes us on a tour of her go-go years in 1960s New York City, the phenomenon of TV’s Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, her Oscar-winning debut in Cactus Flower and Hollywood stardom. She writes intimately about the challenges of love, anger and fear, and the importance of compassion and integrity. She speaks openly about her family, her partner Kurt Russell, her children; her faith, her curiosity for that which she doesn’t yet know, and her thirst for knowledge. Most of all, it is a trip back through a life well lived by a woman well loved.©2005 Illume, LLC; (P)2005 Penguin Audio Entertainment & Celebrities Women Celebrity Heartfelt Inspiring Feel-Good Witty Thought-Provoking

Goldie’s voice and love for her family, her fellow man, her children, her husband and for all the people who crossed her path was awe inspiring. There was no pretentious pompous raving about what she has achieved in life or what she has done but a true down to earth genuine story one I could resonate with. I was never bored, I didn’t want it to finish. LOVED IT

Beautifully written & special to have it read by Goldie. I've loved her since I first saw her. Her infectious laugh & personality shines with every word she utters. Wonderfully presented with pearls of wisdom. The ending came way too soon. The musical interludes were very calming & left me nodding & relating it to my own life experience as a Sister, a Mother & a Daughter.

I very much enjoyed listening to every story and especially loved the delightful and meaningful little snippets of wisdom at the end of each story. Beautifully done and so inspiring. Love the fact that Goldie narrated this herself as it really brought it to life.
