Fascinating story simply written which makes very easy to listen to. At times quite gripping.

Roald Dahl’s 2nd book about his young adult life during the war. This is a continuation from Boy, which is based upon his childhood. I highly recommend this book for children aged 9 up, to enable them to learn a little about life in the war. Roald had an amazing life!

We’ve listened to both Boy and Going Solo at least twice as a family, maybe three times, a heartwarming autobiography easy to listen to at any age. Important memories of colonial east Africa and the Mediterranean during WW2. He was very brave but took on the challenges of life and wartime with good natured common sense.

An astounding early life told simply and earnestly

The reader’s voice was so smooth and it felt like it was Roald Dahl reading until I listened to a sample of Roald Dahl reads Charlie and the chocolate factory and 4 more stories. The detail is probably the only reason I believe the auto biography was not fake.

Best and only auto biography I have ever read!
