Publisher's Summary

Goin’ Nowhere Fast chronicles the summer of 2019. On May 20, I set out for a cycling tour from Central Florida to Maine. The essays within this book are what came of the road, the freedom, the solitude. There is much repetition throughout this work. Common themes repeat themselves again and again, making them impossible to forget.

It is important to know that each essay was written as a separate piece, a log from each day, a distinct moment in time. On the road, I saw many parallels. I found myself revisiting the same truths and realities, mile to mile, place to place, person to person. While I struggled with these realities, I wrote them down, I found solace, and I struggled again and again. I cover much in these works, but mostly, I touch on what might be best for the earth, for the land, and finding our place within the natural world without destroying it completely.

Goin’ Nowhere Fast serves as my first attempt to put my love for nature, the ideals I hold highest, and my ideas on protest at the front. Come what may, wide open I’ll be.
