Publisher's Summary

Autumn 1944. With the Allies giving chase across France, German forces are in full retreat after the defeat at the Falaise Gap. In the confusion of the fast-moving situation, small squads find themselves on their own or cobbled together from other units, with whichever officer has the highest rank taking command. These units have one goal in mind, which is to move closer to Germany. It’s bad enough that troops on both sides find themselves short on fuel and ammunition. Their path is also blocked by physical obstacles such as the Moselle River. Now, two of these orphaned squads - one American unit, one German - find themselves in a small French village with a bridge across that river. Both sides want possession of the ancient bridge across the Moselle, and the result will be an epic showdown that pits general against general, and sniper against sniper.

Loved it

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this, what I found was a delightful story filled with danger, thrills, excitement, a touch of romance, humor that makes you laugh out loud, sorrow, pain, anger, you name it you will find it between these lines. Normal when I work on my afghans or rugs as I watch TV but I found I could not put this down, and listened to it at one setting, I can hardly wait to start the next one. My husband doesn’t really like audios but he set and listen to this with me and totally enjoyed it. The narrator did a wonderful job of narration he put feeling into the audio. His voice is very powerful, clear and pleasant to listen to. There are no background noises or any volume changes His tones are very even he never leaves you guessing how the character feels. He gives you a very clear rich audio that you do not want to put down. The male voices are as pleasant as his female voices. You never have any trouble knowing who is talking or just what is on their mind. He uses the correct tones with each character just as I pictured them to be. He chuckles when he needs to or shows sorrow through his voice. He really brought this story to life for me, I had no trouble watching in my mind as his voice smoothed over me making this almost like a movie. He made me feel what each character was going through, at time I held my breath waiting to see what was going to happen next. The narrator has a knack to reach into you mind, pulling on your heartstrings and gibing you a highly entertaining listen. I really enjoyed his voice and could listen to it all day with no problem. Mr. Bennett has become one of my favorite narrators I know when I see his name I am going to be taken away and truly enjoy the listen. The author gives you a believable story that is highly entertaining as well as pull on your heartstrings, he makes you laugh, want to cry and even sigh, I really enjoyed watching these snipers play at their game of chest, holding my breath to see which one would die and who would live. He made me feel that was truly happening. It was very emotional, and sad but the men feel real joking with each other but getting right back to business. I can’t tell you how well this author and narrator blend so well together, and how much I enjoyed this story. I am off to start the next one in the series.
