Publisher's Summary

In God’s Generals, Roberts Liardon will help you recapture God’s glory with compelling spiritual biographies of some of the most powerful ministries to ever ignite the fires of revival. Liardon faithfully chronicles their lives in this work, along with their teachings, and their spiritual discoveries.

Four of God’s generals who you will meet include:

  • William J. Seymour, the son of ex-slaves, who turned a tiny horse stable on Azusa Street, Los Angeles, into an internationally famous center of revival
  • Aimee Semple McPherson, the glamourous and flamboyant founder of the Foursquare Church and the nation’s first Christian radio station
  • Smith Wigglesworth, the plumber who read no book but the Bible - and raised the dead
  • Kathryn Kuhlman, the beloved evangelist whose miracle-filled meetings drew millions of skeptics to faith...and you will meet eight more "Generals" who dynamically demonstrated the Holy Spirit's power

Liardon also draws crucial life applications for you from the lives of these mighty warriors. God's Generals will help you learn to obey the spirit's leading in every area of your life - and keep your ministry powerful and successful! You can gain the victory in your life and ministry. Let God's Generals show you how!

This book is a revival to the heart

This book has revived my heart! It’s so challenging and a huge blessing to my life. I am fully convicted but also see the grace, mercy, love, forgiveness and blessings of God. I will be listening to this over and over again. I can only pray that God will use me as he did these generals.

Inspiring and insightful

I love how Roberts Liardon framed the good, the bad, and the ugly of these revivalists’ lives. It was clear that his goal was neither to glorify nor condemn any of them, but to honor what God accomplished through them. It left me feeling like God could do those things again through me, or anyone who is willing and pure in heart.

Great overview of amazing revivalists of the past

Overall this is a great book that gives a snapshot into the lives of men and woman who paved the paths of revival and the supernatural. The only challenging part is the amount of personal thoughts and opinions of the author.

Lessons that need to be learned

For the next generation to advance and not make the same mistakes we need to learn from our elders.

Like Walking Thru History

Roberts book takes the reader/listener alongside God's Generals through history. The historical context is not only amazing and informative, but you feel as if you have learned from the Generals themselves seeing their pains and hard aches as well as their joys and triumphs. A must read book in print or audio.

Amazing!!!

Going through this book again (read it before), there are different situations and things not noticed before, and it probably is because the spiritual walk had grown since prior reading. When a book is like that, it’s truly divinely inspired! I love it so much! I’ve always been an avid fan of learning and learning and exploring history, and I started about two years ago paralleling secular history to true church history, and how much of church history has been forgotten (or covered up). It’s truly amazing! This amazing book goes through people of incredible faith’s lives, and how they helped shape our modern world, as well as our churches nowadays. There is so much wisdom told, and it points back to the Bible. It’s so good!!! I highly recommend it 🙌🏻🔥
