Boring

1 hour into it and I feel like nothing has happened. It's just he said this , she said that the whole time. Narrator doesn't suit the story. To boring to finish.

Not a bad start

The story was okay. I felt the characterizations of Mulder and Scully were mostly on-point, with a few off moments, but nothing particularly jarring. It read like a typical filler episode of The X-Files, nothing special, but enough to hold my interest. No major complaints about narration, it was a decent enough job. As is typical with books about TV shows, you'll have to use your imagination to believe it's Mulder and Scully speaking.

About average

The premise of the book starts out like an x-file but quickly loses the "x-file" feel. Mixed with worthless extra characters and a few missteps in the characterization of Mulder and Scully only gives the book an "okay" rating. The performance wasn't terrible but nothing to write home about either.

Goblins

It's an X-Files book. I'm pre-disposed to love it. I read it before, many years ago, and enjoyed both reads. Typical storyline...recognizable characters...fun exploits.

Great series

I'm on the fourth book of this series and really like them. Solid writing and so far each of the books reflect the characters accurately.
The narrator is fine. I increased the narration to 1.25 and prefer that speed when listening to Patrick Lawlor.
If you're a fan of the show, I definitely recommend these episodes.

Full cast would have helped!

Love the x-files, read this back in the day. The book is an over-described, average story. If it were acted out by a full cast of the original actors, it would be fair. Narrated, it is hard to get through.

Skip it.

Poorly paced. Boring story. Unsatisfying ending. I was very disappointed.

Mulder friends with a creep he lets harass Scully? Two new agents? In training? Characters you just don’t care about.

I am a huge X-Files fan so I will probably try other titles but this wasn’t a good start.

The performance was distracting.

Meh. OK story, Bad narration.

If this was an actual episode it would be one of those ones that for some reason they decided to make a 2 parter. Story was okbut not anything more. the narration was bad though. the 1st few. chapters it seemed like he was jacked up on energy drinks, trying to make every scene exciting when many were much more low key. by the 7th chapter he calmed down a bit but sometimes he would revert back to it.

not like mulder and scully

the author has invented friends/ family and associates for mulder and scully who do not seem canon. this rubbed me the wrong way.
their conversation was more like Buffy than X files.

Thought the characters were a little inconsistent.

The story was great, much like the X-Files we know and love but I thought the portrayal of Moulder and Scully were a but out of character in some parts.

Good but drawn out

The performance and characters are great but the plot struggles to fill the book and feels dragged out.

Actually really good!

After three of these books narrated by Patrick Lawlor….I’ve warmed to his voice. He is actually a really decent narrator!!
The story is good…my only issue being it gets a tad messy …but it’s a true x-file style ride!
Nice One

Sorry but a pale rendition poorly delivered

I have fond memories of the X Files and this novel, not written by the original authors of the TV series left me cold.

I didn't complete it and never will.

The person who wrote this has no idea of X-Files

This is perhaps the most disappointing waste of time of my life.
The human who wrote it has no idea who Fox Mulder is, has no idea who Dana Scully is, has no idea what makes Xfiles Xfiles, is clueless about what makes Mulder, well, Mulder and Dana Dana.
Some dude is using these names and vomits a lot of nothings happenings in a bad and limited story. Some dude uses the names we know and tells a bad story without having any insight in the characters' psyche. Just using their names doesn't make it XFiles. This is an abomination, horrible and insulting. Don't bother. I added it to my library because it was free and because I love the X-Files but it simply isn't worth listening or occupying space on my device.
