Looking forward to the next in this new series...
I enjoyed this book. The this is another new author for me.
When I read the summary I was a little confused. The summary states that the protagonist (Alex Mercer) gave his daughter up for adoption but gives no reason why. It also doesn't say that he does have contact with her. Nor does it give either of their ages. From the summary I made the assumption (never ass-u-me) that their ages were like teenager and 40 or somewhere in there.
So, it turns out that Alex is 25 years and his daughter is 11 and has been adopted by the bio mom's parents. Alex pretty much leaves her alone with her "family" and only sees her three times a year. When she gets kidnapped while out with him for the first time it becomes a race to save her from a serial killer whose been at killing children for over three decades.
I really enjoyed this book. Alex has just enough immaturity/maturity for a 25 year old to make the character believable.
Rachel Dulude does an outstanding job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book.

Marvelous suspense mystery!
Author Stacy Claflin is already well known for her very successful paranormal and romance novels (my two least favorite fiction genres). With the Alex Mercer series she brings her talents to suspense mystery/thrillers, my favorite genre. Girl in Trouble is an outstanding fast-paced novel with a complex and very credible plot and vivid characters. It is a 5 star winner about the kidnapping of an 11 year old girl by a serial killer. Book 2 in the series is already available and Book 3 will be released later this month. Rachel Dulude's narration is stellar. I really enjoyed this novel.
Thanks once again to Audible listener Shelley for her wonderful reviews. I would have never considered a Stacy Claflin novel without her positive review.

Riviting, non stop thriller!!!
I stumbled across this audio book and wow what an on the edge of your seat thriller. Characters well developed and real. Narration was amazing.
Only thing bad was the involvement of the fbi??? Really? That truly shocked me and came across as unlikely??? Really???
Well, it is still an amazing start to a series.
Can't wait to listen to the next book.
Want to thank the author for hours of nail biting enjoyment. Love a truly gifted writer!

Immature writing of a somewhat contrived story
I don't know if the tone of the book changed after the first (couple of) chapters, or if I got less tolerant, but it felt as if an adolescent wrote this book. There were also too many saccharine expressions. The narrator didn't exactly improve the tone. She placed the emphasis regularly on the wrong syllables and words and often halted in the wrong spots. I didn't like her different voices for the various players. Some female voices were too sweet, some male voices gruff or commanding instead of conversational. I found the ending confusing, partly because I either fell asleep, and had to go back a couple of times, and partly because it seemed too quickly thrown together to provide an explanation.

Not a good choice.
The storyline was fair but the author showed a lack of imagination. My biggest problem was the narrator. How she works on a professional level is a puzzle to me.
