3.5/5 (SPOILERS AHEAD)

The start was amazing, i could not put the book down, but as the book progressed there were so many issues raised in which how could an individual be so unlucky?? I feel like different concepts could have been looked into more in depth, i feel like the concepts were just crammed into the book but was missing the depth and importance of it all.

Overall, I did love Kathleen Glasgow's writing style!

(SPOILER)

- Loss of father (what happened??)
- Grandmother funding stopped (what happened??)
- Ellis being 'half dead' (there is no more to that. The end of the book did not give the readers much closure at all..)
- Riley using her
- Mixed signals with Mikey
- Poor relationship with mother (never found out what happened between mother and her other than a singular fight)
- Riley's sister being rude about the 'cuts'
- Self harm (no one helped the main character with this at all. It was more encouraged)
- Mention of suicide
- Addiction (so many additions, drug, alcohol, etc)
- Blue's problems overall (Why was Blue rude at the start? Why did Blue meet up with Charlie?? Why did Blue continue to flirt while knowing how it made Charlie feel?? ETC)
- Loss of Luisa (not much closure on this topic too. I wish there was more info on the books she wrote in)

Okay

This story was very different to what u had expected, very sad and tragic but with a hopeful ending. I found it hard to remain engaged with the story the whole time, I think some parts felt really dragged out. The performance was well done, so it was an easy listen.

A book that should be read

A book that should be read by all - a beautiful but tragic insight into the life of just one of many

Tiktok made me do it

Yeah it was okay, certainly not life changing like TikTok made it out to be. Sad but not shattering. Worth a listen but won’t be making my top10 list.

The Imagery

The vivid imagery the story conjures, both via the writing as well as the voicing if characters.

Alright…

Not what I expected after reading such highly rated reviews. It was alright, lots of themes not discussed in depth and left wondering “what happened there?”. Tragic about the main character’s life and story she tells, but a positive ending nonetheless. I felt it misses the mark on the hype the book gets on social media.

Very realistic.

Loved this book a lot.

I couldn’t stop listening!

At first I was getting annoyed, thinking how stupid can she be going out with this guy who is so obviously WRONG for her but when I stopped and listened from the point of view that this is literally what happens in real life. She was so broken that all she thought she deserved was that exact thing. It’s realistic, sad, hopeful and has elements of joy.
