An emotional rollercoaster

What I've enjoyed so far about this series is how it's a metaphor about real, emotional issues

The story has potential, and I would like to see where it goes but randomly the writer has inserted flash backs on the main characters life that really doesn't provide a point to where the story is going.
The writing will fixate for a while on the mains thoughts, going back and forth in an internal monologue that leads nowhere and is frustrating to listen to.

The narrators voice switches mid sentence like she missed lines and someone had to fill in. She acts out the main character to be a whining brat.

It's difficult to listen to, would recommend buying and reading this instead, might enjoy it better.

gosh I really loved this book! the narrator did such an amazing job! I really felt like I knew the FMC and other characters in real life 🫶🏻
the storyline had me absolutely hooked, and I haven't been that hooked since I've read a SJM book.
kind of reminds me of the prison healer, storyline wise. can't believe it has such a low rating here!

I fear this series will be the death of me. Raven Kennedy is a stunning author whose words grip your heart and make you forget to eat and sleep as you lie “just a bit more” to yourself.

I know this reader could have used an alternative performance approach because her voice and tone for other characters is normal, but for the main character she uses what can only be described as a whining, juvenile voice which grates so much I’ve chosen to stop listening and go read the book without that sooky voice grating on my nerves. It felt inappropriate because the voice was portrayed as young and child like among adult content and it made me feel uncomfortable. This needs a re-do on performance NOW! Story is great. Sad it’s ruined by the performance.
