I loved the stories. Haunting tales from a bygone era that leave you with a chill. Stephen Fry is the consummate narrator and he brings an unsettling gravitas to this selection of tales.

Just love Setphen Fry. I found the background gave a depth to the experience. If you listen quietly It gives atmosphere and draws u into another realm between the words. I found it made my concerntration more acute on Stephens voice. These are classic ghost stories, creativity written. not too old to withstand the passage of time. They reflect an era of awareness of the supernatural. a time of change . I enjoyed this book.

Stephen Fry has the best narration voice ever for ghost stories. He really does the authors proud. Will look for more narrations by Fry.

Most Enjoyable

Stephen Fry’s performance is excellent, as always, but the sound effects and music were irritating and distracting. The “sound design “ was unnecessary. Fry's performances of Conan Doyle & Wodehouse didn’t need sound effects and neither does his reading of ghost stories.

Great performance, dreadful music

Stephen Fry's narration is so gripping that I listened late into the night! I recommend this audio book and give it a 5 star overall

Excellent!

I’m a fan of anything Stephen Fry narrates so I’m a little biased. Though the stories weren’t overly scary or anything, they were still an enjoyable listen. I’d recommend this for anyone who’s a fan of the genre and Stephen Fry.

A good listen

Great narration of old classics enhanced by SF incredible voice. Once I got used to the side effects I actually enjoyed them and they did create atmosphere but I understand why some people were less enthusiastic.
4* only because I’d have liked some modern material as well.

Stephen Fry at his best!
