About this listen
Remember, daughter, the world is a lot bigger than anyone knows. There are things that science may never explain. Maybe some things that shouldn’t be explained.
Stacey and Laney are twins—mirror images of each other—and yet they’re as different as the sun and the moon. Stacey works hard at school, determined to get out of their small town. Laney skips school and sneaks out of the house to meet her boyfriend. But when Laney disappears one night, Stacey can’t believe she’s just run off without telling her.
As the days pass and Laney doesn’t return, Stacey starts dreaming of her twin. The dreams are dark and terrifying, difficult to understand and hard to shake, but at least they tell Stacey one key thing—Laney is alive. It’s hard for Stacey to know what’s real and what’s imagined and even harder to know who to trust. All she knows for sure is that Laney needs her help.
Stacey is the only one who can find her sister. Will she find her in time?

Three stars for the descriptive text and character building, essentially the first 3/4 of the book. The last quarter seemed rushed.
🦉
Honestly, I could have spent YEARS with Tace as she searched for her sister. I loved the little details throughout the story, the conversations, discovering the intricacies of her relationship with her immediate family, friends and distant relatives, her habits, her day-to-day, her vivid dreams that were the only explicitly supernatural part of this book until the final chapters.
🦉
There were pockets towards the end where the book redeemed itself but essentially it felt like the author got to “the bit where they kinda needed to wrap it up” and ran with that.
🦉
An exciting adventure while it lasted. For me, the ending was rushed, less descriptive when it really needed to be and (for me) harder to follow. Otherwise an enjoyable read.
An exciting adventure, anticlimactic

Insight into indigenous relationships

To the beautiful addition of the first nation's language nods as well as raw beautiful glimpse into the inner workings of a first nation's mob and the sheer solidarity and strength they hold with their loved ones.
And the fun, oh the fun of the sassy remakes from cuz Rhi.
Understand its a stand alone book and no needing a sequel after the end but hey if there's a spin off.......I would be over joyed.
Suspenseful, beautiful and fun
