Publisher's Summary

When nine-year-old orphan Georgia James is unexpectedly fostered by the kindly Celia and her bank manager husband, she can hardly believe her luck. But then - on her 15th birthday - she suffers the cruellest betrayal of all at the hands of her foster father and is forced to run away, leaving everything she loves behind.

Penniless, sleeping rough, Georgia is soon introduced to the sleazy Soho world of brassy strippers, sweat shops, camaraderie, and hardship. Fired by a fierce ambition, blessed with an extraordinary voice, her long struggle for fame and fortune begins. But even when she reaches the top, she finds that the scars of the past can open up to ruin her.

Absolutely Loved It!!!

Where does Georgia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was the first audiobook I've listened to - great introduction in to the world of Audible.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Absolutely loved Peter - who couldn't? The faithful, ever-trusting young boy grows in to a handsome man, always waiting for Georgia to come back in to his life.

Any additional comments?

Fantasic! The narration was wonderful and had me engaged and wanting more the whole time.

Beautiful story

I really enjoyed this story, although quite predictable it was a beautiful story of friendship and endearing love along with drama and deceit.

No. Only because I never miss a word when I'm listening.

I don't want to give the story away. Just the part about her friend that she lived with

Which character – as performed by Emma Powell – was your favorite?

The father! Emma made him sound the way he should be

Excellent

This is the second one I've listened to, by this lovely woman. Totally engaging! Vibrant descriptions of 1960's London - so good I thought I'd lived it myself. A bit predictable in places, but the main character is so lovable, I easily over looked it. Can't wait to start in on the next one.

Disappointing

I didn't enjoy this story at all, I couldn't seem to identify with the character of Georgia or see her even in my mind. The story was really boring with not much going on really & I very nearly just stopped listening a few times through boredom! But wanted to see it to the end anyway in case it picked up. The narrater I didn't think was very good either, I disliked her attempt at male voices & found it quite comical when it wasn't supposed to be! And the sex scenes were just cringe!!! It's a shame because I did really enjoy Belle by Lesley Pearse but not this one.

Georgia by Lesley Pearce

Gripping storyline, very well read, not a good one to go to bed with though, it will keep you awake listening to a graphically described plot!!

Compelling

I have listened to a lot of Lesley Pearse’s books lately starting with the belle series. But this this would be my first review. I have found the books I have listened to from this author to be exceptional, there have been different narrators but each of them including Emma Powell have been as good as each other. The best thing I find is the longevity of the books and how you are not left wondering as the books come to a conclusion. This book Georgia is no exception. You will be excited, shocked, flustered and brought to tears with a rollercoaster of love, loss, envy and hate. With a strong central female character that you can see and feel as if you were a fly on the wall as the story progresses through the years. Please be mindful that some of the romance would be 18+ ( even made me blush ) Male 47 Terry. Terry.

Fantastic Book

Really enjoyed this book, it touched on very real and at times emotionally disturbing issues! But the twists and turns keep you hooked. A story well told
