From the detail in the gorey gritty world of Sera to showing all of the characters personalities perfectly and at times better being in there heads and really know those people this is fantastically written and fills in the gaps both before gears 1 but also in between gears 2 while given you hours of fresh, intense and emotional story in a world that if you played the games is so easy to imagine.
Without spoiling what happens within the book my favourite tie ins to the game would be the way they built more upon relationships like Hoffman and Fenix and really show a level of care for these characters that any fan of the series would appreciate

10/10 on all fronts it’s honestly my favourite book ever for its emotion, action and detail probably partly helped by my love for the series in general
Can’t wait to start book #2!

Narrator was good but just didn’t do some of these characters justice honestly, pretty good otherwise.

Unfortunately, the narrator was not the best choice for reading a great classic Gears book. The original audiobooks had a better performance from another narrator that I can't understand why his performance wasn't used. I still have my audiobook of The Slab and it is miles ahead of McNamara has done.

I really enjoyed NaN Mcnamera reading this, it's great that a "Real Gear" was able to be apart of this stroy, she made it feel very Authentic, thankyou

I love this book it’s so well written and dose a fantastic job at bringing to life the characters of gears of war.

My only gripe is the narrator, she dose a pretty good job at it and dose not take away from the book. But she dose not stand up to the previous narrator David Colacci his vice was rough and deep and worked so so so well in the gears universe.

Really enjoyed the story, narrator really nailed the characters and bright them to life, and a really good ending, hits you right in gut and shows you what brotherhood is all about

Nan is a great performer, but this series really isn't for her. At least not if you've played the games. Marcus in particular needs a certain vocal performance that wasn't delivered here.

I love the Gears of war games and the story, but sadly i couldn't listen to this book as the voice actor was not bad but was not the right pick of this book, knowing the story and the characters, this really needs to be voiced buy a bloke or with several voices
