Simplistic Details of Gaslighting

I believe this book validated my decision to end my 19 year marriage three weeks ago. I experienced the abuse of a malignant narcissist. This book gave simple instructions on how to handle gaslighting on any level. It has now been revealed that my mother is a covert narcissist and after listening to this audible I feel empowered and free to walk away without feeling guilty that I may be neglecting her. For this I am grateful to have listened to this audible!

Disappointingly written, irritatingly read.

This book in audible form was very quite disappointing. The content was not so much about the title but about 1. The Play/Movie (about which they took up almost all of the intro and first chapter on; thereby wasting your time). 2. About different kinds of Narcissists. Which was interesting, but the book title is about how to heal from gaslighting which they did not help with. Let me summarize the content for you: Gaslighting is a term from a play/movie. Narcissists are people to stay away from. Done. Just saved you a book fee. You're welcome. The reading was so unengaging this 3 hour book felt like 20 hours. Better to have an automated voice read it than to have someone blandly read through it in a see emi monotone fashion by someone who doesn't even know how to pronounce words like "recollect".

Informative and Timely

I needed this book. I needed to learn more about the term gaslighting, as someone close to me is going through this. I appreciate the recaps at the end of the chapters and the workbook sections of the book. For someone who has never gone through this, it gives me a good glimpse into things to watch out for. Highly recommended!

I am very interested in listening to family and marriage books because I love my family! This book points out a serious problem most people have. I would say “glass lighting” is also one of the serious problems that’s cause marriage and relationships to go downhill. Listen to this, it’ll benefit your life!

A Great Guide to Get Help

The author does a great job of laying the signs of gaslighting and characteristics of narcissism. I have read a lot of information on the topic but this guide puts it all in one place. I find this to be a great tool as a resource for myself as well as a tool that I can use with clients. Many times we see the behaviors but are not to put a name to them or what to do when we see them. The author helps to shine a light on this issue.

Must read!

Gaslighting is very common and sadly many people are suffering and don't know that they're victims of it, because others make them feel like they're crazy and don't know what they're feeling. This book will help you, a family member, or friend to see that what they're experiencing is real! It explains gaslighting very well and provides practical information to help you recover from it. It'll also help you to see that you're not alone and that's priceless!

Repetitive, but helpful.

Instead of being defined as someone who antagonizes situations or acting as a provocateur, the recent definition seems to center around behavior that is more controlling and abusive. Either way, let’s hope that the info will give hope to anyone who needs it. The repetitive nature may also allow some readers to absorb the material, but it might help to have a synonym or two for the word ‘gaslighting’.

When in doubt...read this book

It easily categorizes it, its stages and characteristics of each, and does summarize in bullet points for better understanding of the situation. It also advises on how to respond to it. Didn't think I would learn so much from this book. Well done!

Eye-opening

Though it’s often very hard to realize when you’re being gaslit, as is the case with all forms of manipulation, this book brings even the most insidious forms of the tactic to the surface, allowing the listeners to connect the metaphorical dots in his or her life more easily.
