Almost ruined before I could get into it

I know that this is a dynamic that people are into, at least in this kind of kinky fiction, but I can't handle judgy elitism. So most of the scenes from Sloan's perspective in the beginning really put me off the story. However I was determined to push through and give it a chance.
Honestly the story from Leah's perspective is what pushed me to keep listening. Her side was engaging and tantalizing with the right amount of sexy, vulnerable and hidden depths.
Sloan though. Not only does her elitism not become a trope she can sacrifice on the alter of love. but her scenes are pretty uncomfortable. The kink play isn't sexy when one partner isn't present in the scene. Leah get's angry about her secret and yet Sloan's character flaw is that she is never present in their play. It keeps coming up weather it's their first real date, the first time Leah is exiting subspace, or when they get back together. The date is designed to embarrass her ex, the kink play is so she can steal the power her ex stole from her, and the end confrontation is about putting the ex in their place...

Hot hot

A hot listen. And an interesting story. Bdsm is not easy to write about I imagine. But the author did a very good job with the dynamic and research was done. The narrator did a good job, but did miss some smokeyness?.

Great Lesbian read

This book was like a breath of fresh air. I really like BDSM erotica and there is a lack of it in Lesbian literature. This story was so well written and Stephanie Murphy did an incredible job of narrating. The characters were original and believable. This was a sensuous, emotional and steamy read with a realistic story line. I listened to this book almost without pause once I started it I am looking forward to reading more by Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings in the future.

Awesome narration makes an awesome book awesome

Okay, crappy title of my review, but it’s true. I am now committed to seek out all the books Stephanie Murphy narrates.

I didn’t think there was a way to improve upon this story when I read it. But listening to it is even better.

I love all of Cynthia’s/Hildred’s books because each couple has their own, intriguing, way of being.

Like Monopoly

Stephanie Murphy out does in her character voices. Wity, charming, and alluring. In a place where to know the difference of abuse and pleasure. A trilling adventue and almost series of adjustment.

Challenging to follow

The story like is fairly good, somewhat predictable. The hard part is that it is challenging to follow the narrator through the story as the thoughts of the characters and what the characters actually say seems to blend without the terms used such as “She thought/ She said”

Powerful

I listened to this audiobook and it was great. The main characters both had serious problems with being manipulated by others. Margaret Sloan and Leah did seem well matched. Leah gave Margaret the motivation to finally make a change and take back her life. Margaret gave Leah the confidence and support she need to move forward. Well read by the narrator Stephanie Murphy

Good story, great narrator

The story was good. The mix-up in the beginning a bit unrealistic but entertaining. I also liked how the topic of domination and submission was handled, I thought that was quite good.
All in all, I would recommend the book thoroughly.

The narrator Stephanie Murphy was great as always!

What I did not like:

- How Leah, as the adult woman she is, is patronized by her parents and accountable for everything she does. The reasons are understandable, but I found that a little over the top.

- The "sugar-momma" aspect of the relationship. To both Leah and her friends it seems SO important that Sloan is rich and can make expensive gifts - I have noticed that in several books by this author and didn't like it.
