GHQ（連合国軍最高司令官総司令部）による日本の「経済民主化」は、増税をはじめ今日まで続く緊縮財政策の起源の一つ、すなわち「経済弱体化」政策だった。GHQが掲げる緊縮主義に日本の緊縮主義者が相乗りし、経済や社会、文化をめぐる考え方にマイナスの影響を与えてきたのだ。「財閥解体や独占禁止法、過度経済力集中排除法の成立、さらには有力な経営者の追放が行われた。これらの政策は、競争メカニズムを形成するというよりも、戦争の原因になった大資本の解体による日本の経済力の弱体化が目的であった」（「第1章」より）。本書は国家を脆弱化、衰退化させる経済思想を、占領期のGHQと日本の経済学者の関係から再考察するもの。さらにアフター・コロナの「戦後」において、日米欧は中国共産党の独裁・統制主義の経済に対峙すべく、自由主義による経済再生に全力を尽くさなければならない。われわれが「100年に1度」の危機を乗り越えるための方向性を示す。
