Publisher's Summary

Five years ago, Zeph met River. The timing couldn’t have been worse. An orphan with something to prove and the ghosts of his past breathing down his neck, Zeph took the offer from a pro-MMA gym to live and train in the Midwest. River let him go easily. If it was a convenient excuse to escape emotional intimacy, neither of them had to admit it. Until now.

Drag queen and makeup artist River isn’t easily fazed, but meeting Zeph on his home turf throws him for a loop. Something about Zeph still gets under his skin. And River’s next job, a drag show in LA and Vegas, will require a security guy to look after the performers. Who better than a tattooed mixed martial artist who still gives him smoldering looks?

It doesn’t take long for them to fall together. They’re opposite as can be, but dating for 10 days wasn’t long enough the first time around. Another 10 days could get it out of their systems...but are they fighting for or with each other?

It’s easy to get hard. It’s hard to be easy. Vulnerability is off the table, until the table turns. How long do you have to have known a guy to put your life into his hands?

A sweet second chance low angst romance

I loved listening to Zeph and River's story. It was such a heartfelt journey with all the feels.
I have a soft spot for second chance romances and this one didn't dissapoint in the least.
Joel Leslie's narration was smooth and enjoyable .

Awesome Second Chance Romance

I absolutely love this second chance romance. The storyline grabbed me right from the start and sucked me right in. Zeph and River are fantastically perfect together and I'm so glad they got their second chance. I love how protective Zeph is and also how understanding and patient River is with Zeph. They have quite a few obstacles in their way but it's a great journey as they navigate their way through them. The narrator did a great job with this story and truly made it even more enjoyable. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful

I love this series, and River is my favorite character, so of course I love this book. Lots of drama and angst along the way to the happy ending -- stalkers and baggage make their relationship complicated, but they break through all the barriers in the end.

amazing second chance

What a second chance romance this was.
Ed has a way to his writing that sucks us into his world that he created for his books. We want to be the friends and be there cheering them on. In this book, we Get Zeph and River.
Five years ago, Zeph and River had 10 days together before Zeph left for the Midwest to train for the MMA.
River, a drag queen, and makeup artist doesn’t do relationships. River has been burned and does not want a repeat of the hurt.
After running into each other at a bar in LA, River gives Zeph a business proposition, River needs someone to do security for his drag show trip to Vegas,
Will these two be able to overcome their obstacles and see how right for each other they are? Joel did an amazing job on this one. His voice was just perfect for this book.

Very sweet story!

Another fabulous book in the F Word series. This book stars Nic's best friend, River. River is a drag queen who identifies as non-binary. it is really refreshing to see another book where the gender identity is not the usual depicted in an MC. Zeph is an MMA fighter, and has a past full of trauma and abuse. He struggles with relationships and letting people close. Both of these guys had stumbling blocks in their path, but they were able to overcome them with patience and support.

I am a big fan of E. Davies' writing style, and he does not disappoint with this book.
Like in book 1 (Flaunt), I love how the characters are not the stereotypical MC's that are in most other books. The exploration of transgender and non-binary is nice to see. The chemistry between Zeph and River was electric. Loved this book.

Edited to add audiobook review--So I listened to this, and the book remains amazing, even after almost 2 years have passed. I loved the characters and their journey together. The narration was good and fit with the characters. Joel Leslie did a nice job.

I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.

So much sweet and sassy fun

I really loved getting to know these two guys. River and Zeph are just so good together. They have an amazing connection and very intense chemistry that just leaps out at you. The fun that they have with one another is great and I really love seeing how accepting Zeph is of River and who he is. I absolutely loved how unapologetic River is about who he is and what he likes. These two have had a long journey to get to here and there are lots of hurdles that they both have to go over to be what they each need. I was impressed by the narrator and the amazing job that he did with this story and these characters.

Can't wait for the next

Another great narration by Joel Leslie and story by E. Davies. Zeph and River are two amazing characters that come to life with a great tone and flow that draws you in. Love how Leslie can draw emotion and realness from each scene. Great way to catch up on the series for me being able to listen and work at the same time. Can't wait for the next.

Excellent story and narration!

Zeph and River, oh were to start! These two are so awesome together and this installation of the F-word series is superbly written and the narration absolute perfection! Zeph and River weren't looking for love but it found them and it rocked their world. These two have been through so much in their past that they have to work through what they are feeling for one another even with their chemistry pulling them together like magnets, Zeph more so than River. There were several times that I wanted to shake Zeph but I had to remind myself that everyone deals with grief differently and once he was able to face his past the walls around his heart crumbled magnificently. The angst here has a nice balance with the rest of the story so I consider it to be on the low side but you will go through a myriad of motions with these men before the HEA that E. Davies gives us so well. I will warn you though, Joel Leslie does an amazing job with this and there are parts where you definitely want to make sure your headphones are working properly and the book won't play out loud haha. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series and if I could give this one more than five stars I would.

Love it!

I am so on love with this second chance at love! I love Zeph and River! I have been waiting for River story and E. Davies disappoint. Then to have Joel Leslie doing the narration just pulls me into the story more then before. I just feel so immersed into the story that I didn't notice that I was to the end until the end hit. Just absolutely love this story and this whole series.

Second Chance Love for the Win

Five years ago, Zeph and River has 10 days together before Zeph left for the Midwest to train for the MMA. River, a drag queen and make up artist, doesn’t do relationships. After running into each other at a bar in LA, River gives Zeph a business proposition, to do security for his drag show as they travel to Vegas, for the next 10 days. But after they fall back together in bed, will 10 days be enough?

This book is an amazing follow up in the F-Word Series and it’s great to see River get his story! I do wish we could have revisited Nic & Kyle more from Flaunt, but understand that this is not a continuation of their story! I like that the author is able to explain things like the drag culture or MMA that the reader may not know about in a way that makes sense and is easy to follow. I feel I say this with all of E. Davies’ books but, I can’t wait for more! These books are the perfect mix of drama, humor and heat! Great read!!

This is a brilliant book and I enjoyed following River after meeting him in Flaunt. Zeph and River reconnect after five years their chemistry between them leads to some steamy scenes.

I enjoyed it

I love the narration, Joel Leslie is brilliant in all that he does. This wasn't my favorite book in the series, but it was really good. The characters are so different and they seemed to have a lot going against them, but the fact that they were willing to try and make it work is what endeared this book to me. It had some steamy moments and it was a good read.

Good but not as great as the first

Going into this I had higher hopes, and it was great don’t get me wrong, but nothing beats the emotion depicted in the first book. That was next level stuff. This one, while a good story, didn’t have the same emotional oomph that the first had. That being said, the narration for this one was far better, which always makes for a smoother start and an awesome listen.
River and Zane are excellent characters, brought to life with enthusiasm and pusazz!
The two characters were so adorable together, life and love always seeming to get in the way didn’t stop their sparkling chemistry.
I really enjoyed their friendship the most, the way they effortlessly connected and that made things so much better throughout the book.

Really enjoyable book

I really like stories about Drag Queens and fighters, there’s something so very interesting about both things. I liked the chemistry between River and Zeph. I thought Joel Leslie narrated this so well, I enjoy his voice and the way he changes voice for characters. He narrates at a great, easy to listen to pace. I thought the story about River and Zeph was interesting and they were hot and sexy. A totally great listen that I definitely recommend.

Wow

This series is well beyond what I hoped for. The characters are unique and the situations so out of the norm that they don’t seem like they could work but they are amazing I loved every second of this book and I know this is an author I need more of. Love this book

Fighting For Their Future

Zeff has returned back to L.A. After moving to Chicago five years ago to become a professional MMA fighter, he bumped into River who is a Drag Queen at a gay bar. They had been together barely for a week and a half right before Zeff had left for Chicago and it seems as though both of them still have feelings for each other.
Joel Leslie has done a great job again giving the characters their voices. I loved this opposites attract second chance love story with heat and angst.

One of my favourite narrators

Drag queen meets MMA fight. Or should that be meets again because this is a second chance romance.
Throw in a road trip, a stalker and plenty of banter and you have an enjoyable, steamy romance.

Opposites attract!

This was a great story. River and Zeph really clashed at times but they had hot as fire chemistry between them. I thought my phone might explode from the heat when it got near to the end of the book! 🔥

I always love Joel Leslie’s audiobook performances; he never disappoints. I hope more books in this series will come to audio.

a slow start but smashing ending!

I loved Rivers authenticity. River is genuine and unashamed of themselves and understands that's not for everyone and that's okay. River just longs to be loved.

I felt both these characters had very complex and hard lives and backstories and their pasts shaped the persons they are now but they've both held pain, anger and resentment for so long it's hard to see past it to the love that's right in front of you. I loved the development of this story and they way these two worked together was wonderful. there chemistry was off the charts and I'm glad there was so much more than just a spark. these two belong together!!!
I'm loving this series and can't wait to read the rest!!
