Publisher's Summary

In the final novel in the scorching Red-Hot SEALs series, a desperate mother and a Navy SEAL fight fire with fire to protect their love and save the world…

Amy Chastain has made a lot of enemies - none so ruthless as the insanely powerful New Ruling Order (NRO). When they killed her husband, it was hell. Then they targeted her children by injecting them with a dangerous, experimental isotope. Now Amy trusts only one man to help her: the ex-commander of SEAL Team 7.

In the company of Navy SEALs, Jace “Mac” Mackenzie was in his physical element. Now he’s on the run from the same cabal that poisoned Amy’s children. That doesn’t stop him from launching a mission to bring down the NRO - and find an antidote. But the clock is ticking. And as the sparks fly between him and Amy, Mac realizes he has more to lose than ever before.

As Mac closes in on the NRO, he uncovers a plot that threatens more than Amy’s children. Now it’s a race against time to stop a global conspiracy, save the woman he loves, and protect the family that’s starting to feel like his.

Wow Exciting Series

First thing to say is Trish McCallan, sure keeps one on the edge of their seats with this particular series. I kept this one in my wish list until I felt I could read it without the old blood pressure sky rocketing. Certainly was not disappointed by any means. Felt that Mac and Amy's story was going to be good. And once again was not at all disappointed. Only thing I didn't like was the Uncle getting killed. And agree with reviewer Carouse I would like to hear more of what happened to Faith. Likewise I also agree with Kelly R. And want Wolf's full story. Plus more about the Shadow Mountain team. Really loved hearing the Arapaho language spoken. So do hope you continue to carry on with this series. Although I've like all of the narrator's, I would personally like to hear the next one with a full cast and sound effects. Feel It would bring so much more to the series.

A bit lackluster..

After such a long wait, I have to say..the book was a little lackluster for my taste.

Mac and Amy’s story was going to be a tough one. She was kidnapped, raped, her husband killed and her son was objected with a deadly virus. Mac hates relationships and doesn’t trust women. How can you weave a believable tale with so much hanging in the balance? Now add to that, the Seal team members are still trying to clear their name and figure out who is behind the aborted hijacking of the Hawaii flight and murder of agents and scientists. There was a lot to accomplish to pull it all off.

Amy and Mac’s story was good. I had issues with how she was handling her post traumatic stress. You felt the connection and the relationship was believable, but it seemed a bit rushed. At the same time, after the many life and death situations they were part of, they’d be the perfect people to understand about not wasting time.

The NRO story and why they wanted the plane down and what their plans were seemed a bit convoluted. Machines that can be powered by the mind..smart/ clean bombs, taking over the world..there was just too much happening. I didn’t feel connected to the storyline. In addition, there were some things left unfinished..like what happened with Jillian? Will Kate’s brother be pulled into the fold? Maybe there is a Shadowlands series coming.

Overall, lived the narration..didn’t completely love the story itself, but enjoyed the ending of the series.

Wow I love this series so much and this last installment is a great closing story. Thank you Trish for doing such a wonderful job on these stories. I loved that Mac got to explore his feelings for Amy, the two of them finally work well together. This book was full of content, battle, experiences, and answers. Luke Daniels was as amazing as ever!!! I highly recommend this book.

Suspence, intrigue, and romance

Great series. Enjoyed the character development and constant plot twists. The characters were very likable. Must be read in order. Each story ends with a cliffhanger. As each book was released, I went back and listened to each book again, therefore reading through audible the first book at least 4 times. Highly recommend if you like military intrigue.

Finally, An Ending.

I have been waiting for what feeling like forever for an ending to this series. This series has it all, romance, scifi (which I normally do not read(, suspense, and intrigue.
There are still a few questions left unanswered. Hopefully, we won't have to wait years to be answered.

A can't-miss conclusion to the series

Book 4 in the Red-Hot SEALs, this is NOT a standalone but the conclusion to a storyline that stretches over all 4 books. Each book does focus on a different couple and the previous books end on a HFN for those couples.

Luke Daniels did a stellar job narrating; I loved the diversity of his male voices especially. This was also more of a challenge than your typical narration, imo, due to the use of Arapaho words. I loved the inclusion of the Arapaho culture and language throughout much of the series storyline as I always like learning about other cultures, but I'm pretty hopeless with other languages. Taking advantage of the immersion reading with both the ebook and the audiobook meant I didn't have to try to mangle the Arapaho words on my own, lol.

As for the story itself, I love stories about military types like SEALs. As a fantasy lover, I also love when the stories mix in what I call mysticism--like when the guys have a sixth sense about danger--and there's more than little of that in this series. In fact, the author did a fantastic job with her world-building, creating a nice balance between the sometimes dark and gritty world of military operators and the more fantastic elements (if you liked the McClouds and Friends series by Shannon McKenna, I'd bet you'd like this as that series had a similar type of storytelling).

I've been waiting for Mac and Amy's story. Amy is so intelligent, and so strong in spite of everything that she's gone through, and I love the way Mac's gruffness doesn't put her off. Mac has been take-charge and sometimes abrasive in his quest to take care of his team; having been burned by the women in his life, he's a little bewildered by the way Amy gets under his skin and how she and her kids become part of those he protects. Watching these two characters grow and heal together added a great deal to the appeal of the story, as did Mac's relationships and banter with his team and Amy's relationships with her kids.

The plot and pacing were on point; the former had a twist near the end I absolutely did not see coming (though I probably should have) and that had me laughing with joy at the sheer perfection of it, while the later made for a can't put down read.

Characters, world-building, plot and pacing, this book had it all. This is definitely an author I'll be stalking...erm, following closely to get her next book, and I'll also be keeping an ear out for more audiobooks by this narrator. My understanding is that Aiden, Kait and Wolf's brother, is going to get a full-length standalone novel, and I'm desperately hoping to get Wolf's story (hint, hint) as well as more from the Shadow Mountain team in general. I can't wait! 5+ stars
