Publisher's Summary

Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back...more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome - but cranky - neighbor and his adorable little girl....

Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship - a job he desperately needs - awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the bar exam. Sawyer doesn't have the time or patience for the capricious - if beautiful - dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene's easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he's resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again.

When the parents of Olivia's absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried.

Contains mature themes.

more drama than romance

This is my first time listening/reading from this author. I found this story in the romance genre but it felt like it's in the wrong category. I was disappointed when there was so much drama and didn't feel it was a love story. I was already more than halfway in the story and felt like the author just drag on and on. I actually had to speed up the reading because I cant stand all the drama. The narrators were superb! they were the reason kept me listening. I didn't want to stop since I was already invested, I was waiting for the balance of rom/dram but there were none so I gave up and stop listening. What a shame on my part. Although this story was fiction, I'm puzzled why the author didn't give the hero a paternity test before taking the baby or at least inform the reader. is this a mystery story? It was obvious the mother was messed up. nevertheless, I wanted to give this author high rating but feel like I should be honest with my opinion. I was hesitant since the story was well written. That said, if you a drama lover than romance, this one is for you!

Emma Scott never fails to engage my heart

Every time I start an Emma Scott book, I'm immediately pulled into the story and fully invested in the characters. Forever right now was no exception. Darlene and Sawyer are so genuine; their hopes and fears make perfect sense, and I as the reader/listener was desperate for a path to open up that they could traverse it together. Thank you, Ms. Scott. Your books are a gift, and your characters are vivid, passionate, and memorable. The narration was perfect. I'm glad this is a title I own because I know I'll return to it again with pleasure.

Great Book

I really enjoyed the story and enjoyed having two narrators, one for the man & one for the woman...just wish they'd both narrated it a lil different... have the man narrate all the man parts & the woman do the same.

I LOVED IT!!! I WANT MORE!! LOL

This was a wonderful story, not your typical single daddy story,,,this one had a little twist to it!! Sawyer the Lawyer and Darlene the Dancer...mix in Livvie and you got a great emotional story of 2 people meeting when they needed someone most, and how understanding, acceptance and love is all tied together!! I laughed, cried and couldn't put it down,Caitlin Kelly gifted me this one on request by me, because she is just wonderful like that..I love her work..and I also love Greg Tremblay...they both were amazing in this one..and I will be adding it to my relisten pile!!! LOVED IT!! AND I RECOMMEND!!!!

So Much love to give

So much love to give… A must read…and I think Emma’s best work. Our Sawyer has a heart as big as the moon and Darlene sees it through the armor that he portrays to everyone…except for little Olivia. Sawyer has felt the lose of his mother through an accident caused by a drunk driver…and Darlene has had to deal with her own drug abuse demons, but when they both find themselves living in the same Victorian house the healing begins…and they save each other. Olivia of course is the magnet that sparks their relationship, and they both fight to keep her. Oh, and I don’t want to forget about Max, Olivia’s sponsor for NA-Narcotics Anonymous. Max pops up in Someday Someday so the story will continue athough they are both stand-alones. Honestly, I can’t say much more because I want you to read this book. So 5-star worthy…I have read the book and listened to the audiobook which is well done, too, kudos to Greg Tremblay and Caitlyn Kelly!

5 beautiful stars for Sawlene.

This book is one of my favorite books by this author. The story is so well written, I feel everything the narrators read down to my bones. I can’t help but love all the characters, my heart breaks for these two people looking for a better life for themselves and finding a beautiful love along the ay. Great story, great characters, great plot. Very worth the time.

What an amazing story! Emma just grabs the reader with her writing and characters. I just fell in love with Darlene and Sawyer. Sawyer’s life is changed in a blink of an eye. Darlene is trying to start over. They form a beautiful friendship and so much more. It’s a story of unconditional love and finding yourself. A beautiful love story!

Just beautiful

I loved everything about this. The narration by Greg Tremblay and Caitlin Kelly was top notch. Their voices carried the emotional build-up in this story to a fever pitch. The romance itself was well executed with an unexpected twist or two that kept me hopping with stress for the protagonists. I loved how the author brought this couple together as sort-of enemies to lovers, and built up the emotion and tension rather than sex (but sex is there too). I was on tenterhooks over the risk of loss of a child and the fledgeling relationship. So well done. These were good, nice people I loved and wanted to be happy and together. The bond they formed and the family they created was totally heart-warming. Thanks Emma Scott for a wonderful romance experience. It was my first Emma Scott romance, but I'll be reading more. Highly recommended.

Sweet, swoony, angsty, and impossible to forget

Darlene: new to San Francisco, Dancer, Massage Therapist, attends NA Sawyer: single dad, law student, studying for the Bar exam Olivia: Sawyer’s daughter, the most precious little baby girl Sawyer is stand-offish at first but Darlene’s charisma wears him down and they become friends. And eventually more. These two are literally fighting their own internal battles. Sawyer struggles with “absolutes” in his worldview. He is rigid in his beliefs that there is right/wrong especially within the law and no gray areas. Darlene challenges his worldview as well as other circumstances including his daughter that I do not want to spoil. Darlene struggles with her addiction as well as her identity. "I will always be an addict even if you put the word 'recovering' in front of it. I will always have to work ten times as hard to be trusted, to be trustworthy but that's the price I have to pay for my mistakes" "You deserve to be loved as you are, Darlene. Not in bits and pieces"
