Story
It's the 22nd Century. The galaxy has opened up to humanity as a hyperactive beehive of stargates and new technologies, and we suddenly find ourselves in a vast playground of different races, environments, and cultures. There's just one catch: we are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain. Enter the Four Horsemen universe, where only a willingness to fight and die for money separates Humans from the majority of the other races. Enter a galaxy not only of mercenaries, but also of Peacemakers, bounty hunters, and even a strung out junkie.

The slaughter is on! Across the galaxy, human mercenaries are being ambushed, and an ever-increasing number of companies aren't returning from their contracts. Someone even appears to be plotting the demise of the premier Four Horsemen companies, and disaster for the other three companies has only been averted by the narrowest of margins. Sansar Enkh, the president of The Golden Horde, knows her company is likely to be next, but has no idea who is behind the attacks, or when they will strike her beloved Horde.

Depik. The race of catlike assassins is feared galaxy-wide. Few living people have seen them, as the sight of one is usually the last thing its victim sees. When Reow is implicated in killing the Depik governor, though, her clan is declared anathema. Her four offspring are placed under interdict - they are to be killed on sight - and Del, Flame, Blade, and Death must flee with their molly, Susa. With Reow dead and Hunters tracking them across the galaxy, will they live long enough to find the real killer, or will they find themselves assassinated by their own kind?

Not only is she the newest Peacemaker, Jessica is also the first Human Peacemaker, and she commands the respect of few, both inside and outside the Peacemaker's Guild. No one believes humanity is ready to take on the mantle of being a Peacemaker, and Jessica is stuck flying a desk. That is, until a species-induction mission comes along, and she is in the right time and place to get assigned to it.

Publisher's Summary
More authors. More stories. The same best-selling universe. It's the 22nd century. Humanity has taken its first steps into the galaxy, and we've found ourselves in a vast playground of alien races, environments, and cultures. As the newest players on the universal stage, though, our position is readily apparent - we're at the bottom of the food chain.
Welcome back to the Four Horsemen universe, where only a willingness to fight and die for money separates humans from the majority of the other races. While some of the stories in this audiobook deal with mercenaries, others introduce listeners to the other guilds, organizations, and races that make up the landscape of the Four Horsemen universe, and many of them provide background information to the mainline novels. There's even a new form of life to get acquainted with and a look at alien interaction at its youngest level!
Edited by best-selling authors and universe creators Mark Wandrey and Chris Kennedy, For a Few Credits More includes 16 all-new stories in the Four Horsemen universe by a variety of best-selling authors - some you may not have heard of...yet. It's a world where you can get anything you want. Some things, though, are only available for a few credits more!

Mercenaries and Mechs.
Probably can’t say enough about the stories here. I mean, not every story is on the same level, and I appreciated some above others, but I have to say that I enjoyed them all. Narration was bloody brilliant. Took a chance on this because of Michaelson as the voice.
Favorites: butch and Sundance by Cawdron
Where enemies sit, Rob Howell.
Leverage, Josh Hayes.
Emancipation, Mark Wandrey
Forbidden Science, Terry Mixon
Family Tradition, Ian Malone
Messenger, Nick Cole
Tinkerman, Jake Bible
That being said, each story really had great entertainment value. A lot of these collections are hit and miss, but this was time well spent. Will listen to several again.

Incredible Antho and Narration!
If you like the 4HU, or just plain awesome mecha with well-written stories, give this a shot! Seriously, NOT ONE story was weak. Great action, good humor, and some truly ingenious plot twists. The thing I love about anthologies is discovering new authors. There are definitely some here that I will now go seek out their full length books. From Cawdron’s great opener to Ezell’s spectacular finish, this antho was never dull.
NARRATION: Keith Michaelson is a god. I have listened to some of his other stuff and was delighted to see him listed as the narrator here. I wish for him to narrate my life. Top 3 favorite narrators, especially for sci-if/fantasy.
Worth 2 credits IMO, but only costs 1.

Skeptical to Believer
Always a little wary of short story collections. The first two stories pulled me in and I became a believer in this book. The performance was awesome, both production quality and voices. The narrator seemed to have a well of unfathomable voices and accents to draw from.
Two stories, Leverage and Boss, were intertwined a bit and that was really cool. Loved Messenger by Nick Cole, different but had great character voice. Ah heck I liked all the stories. Like another reviewer said, I’ll go back and listen to several more. Some didn’t deal directly with Mecha, but we’re good set ups for future stories—or that’s what it seemed like. In a way, this is a book of “trailers” for the authors’ full length books. Really good showing all around. Will recommend.

Basically Awesome
So, basically I thought this collection was awesome. Some stories more engaging than others, but that's the way of anthos. Expertly and professionally narrated, which really gave good life to all the stories. Great voice.
Favorite were the opener, kind of a mystery noir, and the second and third stories. So yeah, the first 3 open this book with a bang. Some good humor as well mixed in with some truly unique turns. Other stories were more straight forward, but I love me some metal crunching, straight forward action sometimes.

good group of stories, few oddities
I really like short stories! this collection has a lot of good ones, even some great ones. a few of them are not stories though and abruptly end without any resolution at all. not a fan of that, but good overall.

Amazing
Regardless of narrative voice I enjoyed every bit of these stories and how they were told. Purely brilliant and mesmerizing in the stories that unfolded within this universe. I was on the edge of my seat and anticipating every single story truly these writers had brilliant minds in coming up with these short stories I just want to keep hearing more on them they were all very good. Please keep this series going and make more books from original author and other authors within this universe it’s amazing I want to know more and not stop listening.
