Publisher's Summary

Lieutenant Alexander Colton and February Owens were high-school sweethearts. Everyone in their small town knew from the moment they met they were meant for each other. But something happened, and Feb broke Colt's heart; then she turned wild, and tragedy struck. Colt meted out revenge against the man who brought Feb low, but even though Colt risked it all for her, Feb turned her back on him and left town.

Fifteen years later Feb comes back to help run the family bar. But there's so much water under the bridge separating her and Colt, everyone knows they'll never get back together--until someone starts hacking up people in Feb's life. Colt is still Colt, and Feb is still Feb, so the town watches as Colt goes all out to find the murderer while trying to keep Feb safe. As the bodies pile up, the feds move in, and a twisting, turning story unravels, exposing a very sick man who has claimed numerous victims. Along the way Feb and Colt battle their enduring attraction and the beautiful but lost history that weaves them together.

Great story but way too much bad language

I would have enjoyed it more had the unnecessary language been cut to a minimum

Grabbed my attention!

Gritty real characters, overwhelming obstacles, sadness and humor and a puzzle that becomes more puzzling. Just when you think you know the plot, there's a new element and the piece doesn't quite fit your prediction.

The narrator is NOT bad!!

I'm extremely picky about narrations & feel as though a poor narrator will ruin an audio book (fsog). I also feel like an excellent performance brings an audiobook to life.
No, this wasn't a perfect narration. There are numerous loud swallow sounds (which kind of gross me out & I avoided by listening through an aux) & the actual narration got better & better as the book progressed.
Kristin Ashley never disappoints & I'm so glad I finally downloaded the book & listened to it since I skipped over it several times due to the reviews.

Good One

Any additional comments?

I enjoy K.A.'s book's mainly because the characters are mature. They have had life experiences and want happiness for the rest of their live. They are not 20 something living in a fantasy world.

More Kristen Ashley!!!!

I was a little worried about this one after reading the summary. I loved the Colorado Mountain series, and was not sure if I could get in to a story with a 20 year gap in the relationship. But as with all other KA books, she does a great job pulling you into the world that she creates and making you love the characters that she writes. This overall story is a romance with a murder/mystery backdrop. It is similar to the Colorado Mountain series and if you liked those books, this is worth the credit.

Narrator and Editing were terrible

Where does For You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This could have been a 5 star rating for me had it not been for the narrator and editing of the audiobook. I listened to the audiobook mostly via bluetooth in my car, and the editing and gaps between the narrator speaking was extremely distracting. The narrator herself was very monotone and I had trouble following along with who was speaking at any given point in the book.

The book itself was great. I loved the characters, even though February drove me a little crazy at first. I enjoyed the suspense and the developing story around the events throughout the book. The secondary characters were exceptional, which I have come to expect from a Kristen Ashley story. I highly recommend the book, just maybe not the audible version.

Great Story

I had mixed feelings about listening to this book, after reading the reviews. I had never listened to or read a Kristen Ashley book before. I always read reviews, before choosing a book, although, I'm beginning to wonder why I bother. Nine times out of 10, I disagree with the majority of the reviews that are posted.

First, this book is not too long. Actually, I would have preferred if it were even longer. The length of the novel allows for the reader/listener the material they need to really know the main characters in the book. It also allows the reader/listener to learn enough about the history of this tale in order for the reader/listener to be able to understand the depth of the story and the characters involved.

Second, another reviewer referred to this novel being nothing but , "soft porn " wrapped in a mystery. Don't let that statement sway your opinion on this novel. There is definitely not too much sex. In fact, there is no sex in the first third of the book. The sex scenes there after are few and done tastefully. Very mild in comparison to the paranormal romances of the day.

Third, the narrator isn't that bad. She does seem to struggle in the first couple of chapters; pausing uncomfortably between sentences and such. However, she catches her stride and the majority of the novel flows well.

Overall, this is a great story and we'll worth the credit. I would say that it ranks in the top third of the novels I have listened to this year; 4 or 5 a week. Enjoy!

Somewhat predictable but well done

The narrator is not the Isadore here. I heard no swallowing and such as others said. The issue is poor sound editing. Bumping speed to 1.5 helps a lot.

Narrator was awful

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story was good and enjoyed it as I have most all of Kristen books. However, I wouldn't recommend this as a audio book due to the narrator. I will definitely steer clear of any books with this narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Liz Thompson’s performances?

I will never listen to another book narratored via Liz Thompson's. Listening to the monotone and the constant swallowing was just awful!

Love the book, but not the narrator

I am a huge Kristen Ashley fan and after having read all her books, I am now going through the books she has on Audible. I have enjoyed just about every audible version of her books albeit with lots of different narrators. However, this is the first one that I really struggled to listen to. Someone needed to edit this book! There are audible swallows, and there are long pauses between sentences especially where there really shouldn't be. It was awkward, and felt disruptive in telling the story. This series of the Burg is one of my favorite so I hope the narrators are better in the other books!

Good book!

This was a great book. Have to stick with it at the beginning. A little slow and narration is not the best but turned out to be a great book.

Drivel

What disappointed you about For You?

The story of some horrific murders was totally dismissed in favour of hero worshipping the main characters continuously, quite bizarre.

What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?

The insulting terminology in relation to the male/female relationship was unbelievably misogynistic, the frequent references to women as mere sex objects was toe curling.

How could the performance have been better?

Start from scratch!

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not that I can think of.

Any additional comments?

Avoid like the plague

The perfect audiobook

I've previously read this on ebook but narration enhanced this wonderful story even more. The narrator was excellent and portrayed emotion, feeling, sarcasm so well.

Adult language

Frequency & use of foul language spoiled this book and storyline was not diverting enough to make it possible to ignore foul language which did not seem to enhance storyline in any way I could not finish this book and will not be reading any further in the series. Would have been nice to have been warned about language, you can skip words when reading but with audible much more difficult.

It could have been better...

The book was enjoyable up until the last hour and a half. KA just couldn't be bothered, it seemed, to even finish the story. She skipped the whole February and Murderer coming face to face scene, him killing her friends and kidnapping her, to Colt being told about it. All that suspense was popped like a balloon and I was left feeling deflated and dissatisfied by the end. This is a first with KA'S books as I have liked the ending to everyone of her others. I'm unsure now if I should move on to the next in the series.

As for the narrator. She has a lovely voice, but she pauses for too long while narrating and she can be heard swallowing. It's a massive put off.

I would have given the book a four star, if not for what I have metioned above.

Are we still in the 1970s?

The storyline had promise but the focus on the two main characters and their relationship is utter rubbish. Way too much of the book is describing their 'perfect' qualities written in such an unbelievable sexist way I actually had to look up to see if Kristen Ashley was in fact a man whose hay day was in the 1970s. Overuse of certain phrases and immature grammar made this book painful to listen to.
