Publisher's Summary

Sequel to Firefly Lane, now a major Netflix series, Kristin Hannah's Fly Away is the story of three women who have lost their way and need each other – plus a miracle – to transform their lives . . .

Celebrity news reporter and presenter, Tully Hart, has hit rock bottom. Kate Ryan had been her best friend for more than thirty years. They’d lived, laughed, danced and cried together. Kate had been her anchor, and now Tully was cast adrift – not knowing how she was going to survive.

Kate’s daughter, Marah, was only sixteen years old when her mother died. Consumed with guilt over the fights they’d had during the last months of Kate’s life, Marah runs away and becomes a drop-out in society, maintaining no contact with her family.

Tully’s mother, Cloud, a child of the Sixties, has lived a world of her own dependent on drugs for most of her adult life. She now wants to prove that she can help her daughter. But what will it take for Tully to forgive?

And then something momentous happens which causes each one of them to realize what they’ve done, and what they have become.

This audiobook also contains a reading group guide with Kristin Hannah.

Heart wrenching

This was an amazing sequel to Firefly lane but it really stirred up deep emotions. At times it was quite depressing but so realistic. Life can be very heart wrenching and full of hurt that effects the other people in one’s life, who love and care about each other. This story really shows that in a big way. Great narration by Susan Ericksen!

An excellent sequel

Absolutely loved the follow up to Firefly Lane. I don’t want to say too much to give away spoilers but I highly recommend this book. I love the way Kristen Hannah has structured the narrative. I’ve read quite a few of her books now and I’ve been enthralled each time. She has a gift of being able to move her novel settings among different eras and locations but still able to take the reader along to those places. I particularly like that she didn’t make characters act “out of character” just to move the plot along. If you loved Firefly Lane or any of her other books you will love Fly Away. Guarantee it!

Bleak

I started off being really engrossed but about half way in I just felt depressed each time I listened. Every character was just so sad & while the narrator is excellent even her voice became too maudlin after awhile. I found this really difficult to rate as it was good but just too draining.
