Publisher's Summary

An all-new stand-alone from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is - it's about being hard. Or, well...helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man....

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham - my high school crush. The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

Fluffy is a full-length novel and is a stand-alone romantic comedy from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent.

Brilliant

Talk about laugh out loud. I just couldn’t get to the end of this book soon enough only to begin again from the start. What a brilliant author Julia Kent is. Erin Mallon, the narrator, really captures the character of Fluffy just as I imagine that Julia intended. Sexy, hilarious and a great story. Well done.

Terrible ending

I should make a note of the narrator so I never download a book read by her again. The book was OK at best and the ending was abrupt. The last chapter should have been edited out completely.

Lovely romance

Fluffy is that. Fluffy. I adore Erin Mallon and she was awesome. The story about wrong place, but maybe the right time. A second chance that didn’t actually have a first chance, but the feelings did. The misunderstandings and how people believe what they want without taking the people into consideration. Yes, it might sound a little much, but Julia Kent handled these characters with a kind of authenticity I didn’t expect. A sweetness and also a touch of rawness. The attraction is lovely. It’s forward, but reserved. The book isn’t steamy, it focuses on the heroine and the people in a way that isn’t too much. And I love that fluffy and fluffer takes on several meanings. A very good book for me.

Fun and entertaining!

What an entertaining story! I admit, I was just as naïve as Mallory — as I didn’t know what a Fluffer was either, and boy did I have a LAUGH as I discovered the meaning through her experience. OH my!! The whole opening scene sets the stage for this hilarious tale. Mallory becomes reunited with her high school crush and through a series of embarrassing moments, witty banter and misconceptions revealed, Mallory gets the happily ever after that she always daydreamed about. The supporting cast of characters are such a hoot, adding to the comedic fun and in turn, we’ll hopefully soon discover their stories as well. Erin Mallon was THE perfect choice as narrator. She brought such life to these characters and story, elevating it to a whole other level of funny!

Loved it!

I love when I can really identify with the main character in a book. Mallory is the nerdy awkward girl who is just a magnet for disaster. Until... This book made me laugh, cringe, and sigh, then laugh some more. The narration was perfect.

My first Julia Kent adventure is going to turn into a binge of all of her books. She's got a unique and hilarious voice. I cannot wait to see what else she's got in store for her readers.

A real waste of writing

Fluffy was so uninteresting that I could not try to get into the story to see if it would start making any sense I just had to stop

Laugh out loud romcom

Absolutely loved this story about Mallory and Will. The unbelievably ludicrous situations she finds herself in and the ramblings of her confused mind keeps the storyline at a fast pace. A good mix of characters play their part in bringing this story to a happy ending. I thought the epilogue was a good lead into the book of the series. The narrator did a fabulous job of bringing all the characters to life and I highly recommend this book.

So funny

I received an ARC of this from Give Me Books PR on behalf of the author. ✩ Second chance romance ✩ Rom-Com ✩ Hilarious ✩ Reunion romance ✩ A start to a brand-new series And what a start it is. This made me laugh out loud so many times I got hiccups. It was cute, pretty low on the angst, and so sweet it gave me a cavity. Mallory and Will went to school together and she had a massive crush on him. Ten years later they're reconnecting. This had some cracking one liners and I can't wait to hear the stories with the amazing friend group. You don't have to but you should totally read Little Miss Perfect which is the prequel to fluffy and fills in those gaps about high school Mal and Will. Erin Mallon keeps bringing the characters to life, even if I wouldn't mind a second POV.

Be ready to laugh so hard it hurts

I had no idea what fluff was. OH BOY was I as shocked as Mallory when I found out. This is a laugh out loud story that I could not stop listening to. Mallory has such a wit about her. I loved her quick responses and complete attitude towards her "new job". But the broadcast in the coffee shop had me in stitches. It is something I could totally see myself doing! Perky is introduced in this story and I could not wait to listen to her story as well. Julia Kent writes such fun romances, I cannot wait to read more. Erin Mallon narrated this story with so much personality. Ms. Mallon brought out the great wit for Mallory. I enjoy listening to anything Ms. Mallon narrates. She has a great voice and narrates at a perfect pace. The overall experience of this story was enhanced by the narration.

Excellent narration

Audiobook review. You know those people that are really book smart but completely oblivious to certain common sense things? Well, that’s Mallory. She made me want to 🤦🏻‍♀️ a few times but she also had a sweetness to go with her naïveté that made her more endearing. I would’ve liked for her to stand up for herself more often but get that some people just aren’t like that. Will was dreamy, patient, and so in love with Mallory. I enjoyed their discussions and banter. There was great chemistry between them. The plot was a little out there but I did find myself laughing a few times. I definitely wanted to know more about the secondary characters so their setup was done well. Erin Mallon did an amazing job as narrator. She transitions between characters so flawlessly. I don’t always like the voices when females do male characters but Erin’s is perfect for books like these. Complementary copy received and voluntarily reviewed.

You will never look at dog toys the same way again

Fluffy is written by Julia Kent and it focuses on the characters we met in the prequel, Mallory and Will. Mallory was jokingly named, “Most likely to be a porn star” by her friends in high school and well let’s just say fate, always has a funny way of coming when and where you least expect it. If you have listened or read to anything by Julia Kent, you will know that one of the cornerstones of her books, is the character’s internal dialogue. I know some don’t like this, but for me, it fits so beautifully with the character of Mallory, that I almost found her internal dialogue to be just as entertaining as the rest of the story. Mallory isn’t your normal heroine, frankly she’s a mess and she’s a total control freak, but she’s this perfect mess that is so authentic that you can’t help but root for her. Her and Will were perfect for each other, because he balanced her out and I became just as invested in their journey together, as I was in Fluffy’s own journey of self-discovery. Her awesome friends just add to the story and the narration by Erin Mallon is like the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to listen to Perky’s story next. If you want to laugh until you cry and then laugh some more, listen to this book. It has everything you need and want in a good rom com. It has a great story with interesting characters, even better witty dialogue and barrels upon barrels of laughs. AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧
