Publisher's Summary

I met him in college, and I fell in love. It was a beautiful love, pure and perfect. Max quickly became everything I could have ever wanted. He was the jock, the popular guy, and I was just Belle - but he made me so much more. He gave me everything I could have ever wanted in life. But one night, one accident changed everything. The man I thought I knew disappeared. I can't tell you the exact moment he fell out of love with me, but he did. I wish I could tell you there was hope. That I hung on. That I fought. I wish I could tell you that we fixed it. But we couldn't, and I ran. In the dead of the night, I packed my things and left him. Five years later, I have returned. He's still the same man I left behind - a deadly underground fighter for the House of Obsidian. He's still dangerous. He's still broken. I still love him. We're both holding a secret, and that secret might just change everything.

Its brief ...

The storyline felt a bit rushed. Her mum dies and about ten minutes after, they are having sex, a state of play conversation about their relationship and a family moment where the kid calls him daddy for the first time. Yeesh.

I Enjoyed this one

It was sweet, enjoyable ,hot sex and worth a credit. My only criticism is that it was only 5 hours and I don't like using one credit for less than 7 hours. I don't even buy books that are 2 , 3 hours. My credits are worth too much. And That's Real Talk!

Good but not great...

There is a happy ending but most of the book is heartache. Also, it taints any story for me when there is any level of cheating. I know they were apart for 5 years but were still married.

Just OK . . .

Sorry, lacked depth, too predictable. Not enough Roger Wayne. A little too many curse words.

Drama

This is an erotic love story with drama.

Belle had no idea what love was until Max saved her, he was everything she ever wanted and needed until one day he was gone, he saw something and what he saw took the man she loved. Now 5 years later, secrets are reveled and hearts are going to break. Belle has spent five years loving a man that left her to protect a greater secret. Will it destroy them or bring them together, because they are both stubborn.

Keep it up Bella Jewel, loving it.

2.9 stars but could have been 4 stars.

I enjoyed the overall story and would have given it higher stars but for one big negative: (mild spoiler) Victim blaming. Something traumatized her husband and in turn he really lost his way. Drinking, drugs, disrespect, gambling, he stole all her money, disappeared for days, told her vile hateful things, including that he no longer loved her and that she should leave and start a new life. fast forward five years and he is angry/hurt and blames her for not standing by him when he was going through his bad period. she agrees with him. What. The. Fuck. Then the way they take it "slow"makes it sound like she has to prove herself to him. *eye roll* The female narrator read the story but did very little voice acting. Male narrator was great.

It was OK!

It was OK but could have been so much better. I did not like how in the middle of the book it was no longer a dual POV we just stopped hearing from the male altogether.

Angsty Love Story

ok the book was enjoyable. I didn't like or dislike the characters. Annabelle was selfish and childish. I don't like when a woman leaves and never tells the dude she was pregnant. Unless he beat the crap out of you then; nope. I couldn't wrap my head around WHY Max went into a spiral. I don't understand how people take on blame for stuff that was out of their control.

The book read as a Tarantino movie. Annabelle was narrating the present and Max narrated the past. The past tells us why we are in the situation in the present. Max's behavior was TOTALLY out of character, especially the way he treats Annabelle. She was right in leaving but again she shouldn't have hidden the baby. Max was a jerk by behaving the way he did and not figuring out how to man up and deal. If I understand his spiral took just under two months and she couldn't connect that to the accident?

I just couldn't help but look at this whole story as WHY?!

I was a bit confused that the bikers from the author's other series showed up. I didn't realize the two were kinda connected. I'm not a fan when authors do that because I feel lost and like I missed something which I did. The next book in that series isn't out in audio yet so now I gotta wait and catch up.

story - 2.5
narrators 3

Not sure if I'll go into the next book but I think it's Rainer who was a side character in the biker series and in this book.

Love, Loss & the Unexpected

Any additional comments?

This book is definitely a must read. The main characters take you in from the beginning with their story. Their past is revealed throughout the book, as well as the path they both took separately to try and mead their broken hearts. Everyone loves a story about love being lost and then being salvaged. Your journey within this book is bumpy, but the ending is smooth (emotionally not physically).

The narrators did an excellent job portraying the characters and you get to catch up with some of the characters from The Joker's Wrath MC, if you have read other books by Bella Jewel.
