Nach der Untergrundmagier-Ausbildung waren sie zu dritt den Radikalen beigetreten. Mort versucht seit geraumer Zeit, sich von dieser Bindung zu befreien. Als er seine Freunde ausgerechnet auf dem Tanzball der Phönixakademie wiedersieht, holt die Vergangenheit ihn wieder ein.
