Publisher's Summary

Aria and her sisters return to the Human Realm of Haven Falls to find one of their own that’s gone missing. They soon discover things have changed in the Human Realm and that nothing is what it seems, including Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence.

Sparks fly when the two enter a fiery battle of wills as Aria learns she is more than just a witch in the Hecate bloodline; she is much, much, more.

Will Aria embrace her savage side to find her sister and save her family, or will she burn to ashes from his heated kisses and burning hot embrace?

Knox has ulterior motives for being in Haven Falls and never expected the little witch to show up and brazenly challenge his rule.

It was supposed to be easy; get in and get out. Move pieces into place and set the stage for the war he’s been planning for over 500 years. Aria is his sworn enemy but something within her calls to him and he hates himself for craving the fiery kisses that have reignited his cold, dead heart. One taste, and he thought he could get her out of his system. He was wrong.

Will Knox let go of the memories of the past, driving his need for revenge that will destroy the pretty little witch he craves, or will he push the boundaries to fight for and claim what is his by right? Either way, war is inevitable. And nothing will stop him from reaching for what is his.

Epic fantasy with heavy love-hate situations with adult situations.

***Magic Swap***

It's good really good but not as great as unpredictable magic. This is a love story with a bit of thrill thrown in. Sarah Pavelec is amazing as the narrator thank you. There is this mystery about Roxy I meant I wonder what she got herself into that she needed to go hide into dull world.

Oh-my-sexy-story

“I’m a woman, Knox. We only need a few minutes to rain hell down upon men. I wish you luck because you will need it. I’m about to rattle your fxcking soul and bring you to your knees.”

Yes, yes, she will; This, dam book, it is brutal, delicious, naughty, and so dark.

Aria is hilariously funny, she is strong-willed, and every time she got knocked down, she popped back up, I found her interesting.

Knox might not win many hearts, but, i think even though he out to destroy Aria and her family, he believes he is doing it for the right reason, in his head, it was retaliation for his dead mate and his son's death.

Aria sister, she blows me out the water, what she did and how she did it, was sick and I loved how it ended for her sister.

Repetitive and illogical and disappointing

Pros:
- I do like the female character and she is pretty strong and smart. (The male has potential to be interesting but so far I don’t care for him because of his inconsistency in everything he does.)
- Good narration.

Cons:
- Keeping track of 8 sets of twins (plus all of the other characters) from the the very beginning is a bit confusing. Not enough to ruin the book, but one more straw.
- This is my biggest pet-peeve in weak books: filler to reach word/page counts. Speakers repeat the same info multiple times per scene just to give length to the book. Male POV is almost entirely a summary of past few chapters, increasing length but adding little to no new information from his perspective or about his motivations as a character. If anything, he doesn’t have a clue what he wants or is doing.
- Characters make choices that are totally illogical (without a spoiler, example, they have a conversation near the end of the book that should’ve completely changed his thoughts about her family, but instead reinforces his opinions).
- PSAs dropped in bluntly rather than with good writing.
- Plot is thin until ¾ through the book.
- I’m annoyed with the ending, not because it is a cliffhanger, but because the major choices the male illogically makes.
- 500 years prepping for a war and no one ever asked if the other side even knew what was going???? That’s pretty hard to believe. (Early info, not a spoiler.) Not to mention that’s a long time to prep!
- Audiobook editing pet-peeve: Not enough pause between scenes. The written text might have several extra lines of space between scenes to indicate a shift in time/place/POV, but when audiobooks, like this one, do not leave an extended pause in these same places, it creates confusion and makes it difficult to follow. (And I’m not rewinding to listen again while I’m driving or running!)

If all of the books in the series were already published and they were free, I might consider continuing the series as I do like the main character, but not with having to wait and pay - this wasn’t worth having to come back and re-listen to it to recall details right before listening to the second book.

Seriously loved this book!!!

I don’t know how Amelia does it, but she does it every time. I’m floored, what a beginning to an incredible, raw, brutal, & beautiful series. Aria is a great heroine & Knox is animalistic. Can’t wait until the next books come onto audio. The narrators she picked were absolutely fantastic too!

Well hot d---, I both love & hate it lol

Let me preface by saying that enemy-to-lover or bully romance stories are not my favorite.
Mainly because I've experienced too many unbalanced stories w/ horribly overdramatic characters & scenes. This PNR subgenre can be a beautiful journey, if authored well.

From my experience, the best enemies-to-lovers books have been the ones that make you step away from the book, in frustration; yet the story calls you back after you calm down. Just like the push & pull romance that this type of PNR is known for, you too may feel that relationship w/ the story. This book did not disappoint in those moments!!! At least a handful of times I had to stop listening & 1 moment made me question my want to continue (this all occurred within the first half of the book). I don't regret buying this on Audible either (only wish the rest of the series was released on Audible too).

Be warned, the 2 mains are not all lovable. You'll experience moments of hating, being annoyed by, sympathizing, & eventually caring for both of them. Yet the storyline works & I truly enjoyed it. I'm immediately starting the next book!

Now for the cons......
To me, only 3 things stuck out as being negatives; but they didn't make me stop going through the story.

The 1st is with the pacing in some areas. The dragging of certain scenes; while not expanding more on the FMC's family history, was disappointing. I'm not sure if I missed discussions or if the info was so briefly discussed that it got lost in everything else going on (esp. when this story is mainly from the FMC's/Aria's POV).

The 2nd issue concerns some inconsistencies w/ the FMC's backstory of being highly intelligent; but she had many moments that portrayed her as very ignorant or not observant to facts.

The final, 3rd issue, is from the overuse of crude sexual verbiage that seemed VERY unlikely to be used by someone as old as Knox. I'm all for dirty talk in PNR; but when the same words are consistently used, it makes the story sound/read more comical than serious.

Repulsive

Can't believe how bad this book was. How was it able to slip past an editor? The premise sounded interesting and the cover art looked decent. Oh, how naive I was...
To begin with the book was hilarious because everything was so far out, bizarre and absurd. Then... Nothing happend, the world felt like the size of a shoe box and everything was "told" rather than "shown". Maybe plot would have happend if everybody wasn't constantly so ridiculously horny and had been gifted with more than 4 braincells. To share. But alas.
I made it through though. Guess the silverlining here is that from this point on, things can only get better.

This. Is. Epic! Great narration!

I am a huge Amelia Hutchins fan for starters and have read this book already. When the audiobook came out, I couldn’t resist. So glad I purchased!! The narration is fantastic...Stella Hunter deserves an award for chapter 46 alone! Brian Pallino’s deep timbre works well too.
This is the first book of at least three. So yes, there is a cliffy. But... the second book is out on kindle and the third book is coming by Dec 2020, audiobooks will follow. You can always be like me and buy both! If you like alpha a-holes, strong female MC, toss in with some magic, other realms, shifters, pineapple, and some wicked funny one liners... buy this now!! Worth your credit!

fantabulous!

I'm addicted to this series. the only issue i can possibly think of, would be wishing that Brain narrated for Knox throughout the book. it kind of throws me off when Stella does his voice and then you hear Brian doing the voice of Knox right after.

So. Hot.

I thoroughly enjoy a good book with a lot of sex, and this book is almost that. The sex is frequent and incredibly well written; however, the first three quarters of the book that seemed like all it was. I also found the use of "fuck" (and some other "swear words") to be too much. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a well placed "fuck," but there were times where I felt like it was unnecessary. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and will definitely be purchasing the next one because damn that clifhanger!

Amazing Story and Amazing Narration

Oh my goodness this book was amazing!!! I have read all of books in the Fae series by Amelia Hutchins so I had high expectations already going into this but it just blew my mind.

I listened to the Audio version and Stella Hunter was truly amazing bringing Aria to life.
Like all Amelia’s stories, we have a sassy, back chatting, kick ass heroine and a total dick head at the start of the story and I kinda hate alpha male. Knox makes Ryder and Lucian from the Fae series seem like gentlemen compared to him and I loved it. The only guy that comes close to this level of dickery is Blane from Claiming the Dragon King. For those of you that have read those books you will know what I mean.
Sorry for talking about those books as this is a completely separate series, I genuinely just love Amelias style of characters.

We start of with Aria Primrose Hecate of the Hecate witch bloodline arriving in Haven Falls in search of her sister who has gone missing. Here she meets Knox who is hot as all hell but really the worst. He treats her like dirt and while everyone around him falls at his feet she goes toe to toe with the egomaniac. The banter between this pair is amazing and the chemistry sizzling. They both feel this pull to each other and fight it as they completely hate one another. Him because he despises witches especially Hecate and her because of his almost irredeemable downright nasty treatment of her.

I don’t want to give too much of the story away as spoilers are the worst and going in fresh is best.
If you liked her previous books you will adore this. It’s completely different from her other stories but the style is similar. It’s an adult PNR with an alpha asshole with a filthy mouth and a kick ass female with an ‘I won’t bow to anyone’ attitude and a little more power that is yet to be revealed.
If you are new to Amelia I envy you. You will fall in love and read all the books she has out there.

Right now I’m wondering can I wait for the audio releases of the next 2 books? I may try as like I said, that version was superb! One of the best audiobooks I’ve listened too. Good narration is key even when the story is beyond epic.

If I could give more I would - 5/5
You don’t want to miss this!!!

Just awful! Amelia Hutchins condones rape

Why not have a bit of violent rape and yes, a bit more even more violent rape. This book disgusted me. No plot line other than violent rape. The worst audio I have ever heard. I have bought so many of Amelia Hutchin's books and I had no idea she was prepared to use the defilement of women as a sales technique. DV is ripe and and Amelia is comfortanle in promoting this narrative - shame on you Amelia - you are disgusting.

Epic

As usual Amelia has out done herself. Knox is an asshole but what do you expect. Amelia writes bare bones books not fairytales but proper alpha males. Aria is a bad ass bitch who gives Knox and everyone else a run for there money. There is no submissiveness when it comes to her. I’ve read and listened to all Amelias books nine times over I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next
