I loved this book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think they would enjoy this book because I enjoyed it.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked it when they went to Kirrin Island because they had not been there since last summer.

What does Jan Francis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

If you have the audio book you can listen to it anywhere. If you read the book in a car it is bumpy and harder to read and you can get sick.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh a lot.

Any additional comments?

I think this is the best audio book I have ever heard.

excellent but troubling

Ah, another one from Blyton where even Timmy the dog is smarter than the adults. wasn't bored for one second but I did feel like child community services needed to be called in on about 10 different occasions.

Five Run Away Together

I think this story and all the others are very good.
It is just so creative and a bit of like a roller coaster so it goes up and down all the time

Outdated

Was painful to listen to. First two Famous Five stories had some old-fashioned aspects re gender etc. but had fun stories and characters to take you along on the adventure, but this one had overt bullying, classism, stereotypes, sexist gender roles.. I finished the book because I'd already bought the next one and was just something easy to listen to going to sleep, but everything, not least the simplistic "taste of their own medicine" morality, is not a positive message for kids or anyone in more ~enlightened times so proceed with caution.
Sorry to be killjoy as I know this was written in the 40s/50s so I wasn't expecting up-to-date representation but just so people know what they're getting into as this one's especially frustrating and I couldn't just go along with the fun romp when so much of it was at the expense of others etc.

Tiresome entry in a decent series

Enid Blyton obviously had issues with the lower class or had a bad experience that led her to vent it all out in this book. I endured until chapter 6 but even then it's still 90% bullying or antagonising the Stick family. They aren't nice people, but the Famous Five are behaving worse and all the self-righteousness gets very tiring. The story has barely progressed even by chapter 6. Can't recommend this one sadly.

George's Plan Agreed By All

The third episode in the Five saga finds all five together at Kirrin Cottage but with their cook Joanna gone away to care for her mother for a short while, George's mother in hospital and her father with her as she recovers for an operation the five are living under the eye of a temporary cook who, along with her teenage son, seems to be doing her best to make their life a misery. But George plans to run away to stay on Kirrin Island, taking enough provisions to last her and the four others till her parents return and thus begins another adventure. You just cannot help but like these four children and George's faithful dog Timmy for there's one thing for certain, if George tells him to stand guard over a prisoner there will be no need for locks and bolts and in the end, they will always be the heros and heroins.

I just can't wait for the next episode and after finishing this series I'm considering trying the Adventure series and also the Malory Towers series.

Best Famous five ever!!!!!!!

This, I think is the best famous five I have ever listened to!
When they think there are smugglers it is exiting but when they find it is actually kidnappers it gets even better
