Another gripping story!

One of my fav authors for when I feel like an escapist story. I've read a few now and enjoyed them all equally. I think the narrator is great - despite the inflection which seems to bug others. We all have dislikes and preferences but I actually enjoy his narrations. I do understand the criticism though- I have other pet dislikes which make it impossible for me to listen to some narrators, such as harsh or nasal or high-pitched voices but this guy has a very comfortable tone and pace for me. I also find him believable. Still haven't forgiven him for using an Aussie accent for Mark the Kiwi, in the last book though! :)

Worst narrator ever

The upward inflections of Paul make this book unlistenable. Terrible. I wish I could have my money back. Andy is an entertaining writer and this guys makes his books just awful.

A true blockbuster

I loved this story, which is almost 4 stories in one, each one building the tension to an explosive climax.

A Total Revelation

I wasn't prepared for how good this book was going to be. It is a well written action story that starts off with a high adrenalin sequence, introduces you to a likeable, funny and fallible main character, builds tension by putting the hero at risk and really gets into the detail of tradecraft. After reading it I immediately went and bought the first in the series, and I'm steadily working my way through all of them.

The Estonian tourist board might not be a fan! 😂

Good story, takes a few chapters to get going. One thing I'm certain of is that I never want to visit Estonia after reading this! 😂

Bloody and good

A bit better than number two, but still saw where the big twist was, but didn't see how he was going to get through it or who with. Nick has another tough time and the action is detailed and gritty. His fights are never one punch knock outs. Looking forward to number 4.

Nick Stone Top Operator.

Really Enjoyed it.. Great writing edge of the seat stuff. Up there with Stratton, Duncan Falconer and James Deegan. Paul Thornley is perfect for the character too. Fast Paced and compelling.. 👊🏻👍🏻

OK but long winded

Lots of impressive descriptive detail but the storyline is weak with lots of dull periods.

A lot of detail to add very little substance

Where does Firewall rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Middle of the road

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

There is a lot of detail in the background and I know that some is inaccurate and therefore worry about the rest.

True Allen keys are made from hardened and tempered steel, hardened to about 52HRc, which is hard, although not the hardest steel you can get it is still very hard, too hard to cut with a junior hacksaw and you probably need to use an angle grinder to cut it.

You certainly cannot bend it with your bare hands, even if you are Nick Stone!!

Other hexagonal tools are available - the rubbish that you get with your flat pack from China, which are of course sub-standard and not hardened, but they are NOT Allen Keys!!

What about Paul Thornley’s performance did you like?

None really, I find his range of accents limited.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The death of Tom

Andy Mcnab

These books are amazing. Nick Stone is deadly, charming, rough, intelligent, stupid, cultured, surprising, and compassionate as he can be. I'm reading the lot, it's an education..
