About this listen
Jade speeds down the road in a stolen vehicle determined to get away from the man relentlessly pursuing her. She flips over the guardrail and lands nose-down on the tree-covered mountainside. Staggering out of the car and bleeding from her head, she knows her life is in danger. However, Jade’s determination won’t allow her to stop there. Especially not when Ivan starts to pursue her on foot. She’d rather take her chances running down the snowy mountainside on a cold winter night with only the light of the full moon to guide her way. Would this be just another escape attempt gone awry?
Jade is a stubborn, persistent, and compassionate seventeen-year-old girl with some grit and some wit. She is sold to the highest bidder by her stepfather, a man once a hero to her, but now a monster. And he wouldn’t be the only monster she would have to face. Nor the only monster she would fight. Because she would fight. She can’t help but fight, even when she knows the odds are against her.
When Jade is sold to a wealthy businessman, Ivan, she expects to become his sex slave, but things take an unexpected turn when she is gifted to Ivan’s brother. Seemingly now in the clear, Jade quickly realizes that Ivan remains a constant threat, and he shows no intention of ceasing his pursuit, despite his brother’s demands not to touch her.
Meanwhile, there is a mysterious man who has been looking for Jade when he realizes she may be in danger, but every time he gains an inch, he loses a mile. When he finally manages to get her to safety, Jade has a hard time truly escaping her monsters when her mind won’t let her forget what Ivan did to her. But perhaps forgetting her monsters isn’t how she’s meant to overcome her battles. No. Perhaps facing them is the only way for her to have her victory. So this time, if he comes for her, she’ll be ready. And she’ll fight.
