About this listen

Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.

When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island and quality time with the man she might one day marry.

I listened to this on my trip to Singapore for a friend's wedding. Enjoyable story told by multiple characters but mostly a relatable American girl during her trip to Singapore with her boyfriend.

It's a simple love story, set against the hangups of the uber rich. These are sometimes superficial and a little irritating - about couture dresses and private planes - but sometimes enlightening. Some of the cultural and family factors were interesting to me. So was the diversity of attitudes that the wealthy characters have towards their wealth.

Very well read and with enough interest and suspense in the story, so I'd recommend it as an easy listening holiday novel.

A bit simple and gossipy, but engaging nonetheless

96🎧🇸🇬SINGAPORE 🇸🇬What a great way to get immersed in Southeast Asia than Crazy Rich Asians. Like most, I saw the movie first, and I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook version, even though the narrator’s Australian accent was woeful 🙉Nick Young and Rachel Chu did remind me of Harry and Megan though. Now off to listen to the rest if the series as I enjoy my summer holidays.

EXCELLENT

Couldn't play the book beyond the 8:20:00 mark no matter how I tried.
A look into the rich and private lives of filthy rich families with their customs and attitudes.

A good book to switch your brain off too... until it won't play any more.

Bug at 8:20:00 and book shuts down

This book was far and away more complex than the film. I loved it! The narrator nailed it.
