Er würde für seine Kunst sterben - andere würden dafür töten. Die Kommissare Amaryllis Winter und Falk von Heeren werden in eine heruntergekommene Villa am Berliner Müggelsee gerufen. Im Wohnzimmer liegen vier Leichen - bestialisch ermordet mit einer Art Säbel. Schnell stoßen die Ermittler auf eine Verbindung, die in die Kunstszene führt und zu einem geheimnisvollen Gemälde, von dem niemand weiß, ob es wirklich existiert.
