Captivating story...great performance
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'd recommend any of these Famous Five audios recorded by the actress Jan Francis, but I think this one is a classic. Francis really brings these stories to life and does amazing voices for all the characters, she obviously loves these books - and it comes across. They are also good if you're looking for a title which spans across an age range-I've found my children of 4 and 7 have been captivated. Ideal for providing some quiet time, for kids and parents alike :).

This is a great book for kids
I loved the Famous Five when I was a kid. I remember going to the library in the hope of finding one that I hadn’t read. Now, of course, they are a bit tame. Nevertheless this was a good story and I can see how the adventures of these independent and adventurous children would have appealed to me. The are also kind and work together as a team which I find lovely. Like Treasure Island it’s a just plausible adventure. Mind you I find them a bit reckless and relying too much on the kindness of strangers. As a child I found Anne a drip now I think her a very sympathetic character and notice how she does a lot to solve the mystery. Mind you the boys are in charge which dates the work.

Oh dear, wrong currency again....
Enjoyed largely but flinched when Dick left a pound coin on table, and groaned when George took out 5ps from her box...... It really spoils it, can't understand why just a few words of text need to be changed. It really jars and spoils an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable listen.
