Publisher's Summary

They came to earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young - she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead.

Only, she doesn’t quite die.

If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around.

In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will.

Dying for the next book!

I LOVE this universe that is so intricate and well thought out, with no flimsy ideas or characters. Incredible author, I am hanging out for the next book. I couldn't stop listening to this book, I finished the whole three series in record time!

Not disappointed.

Loved this book as much as the others, I enjoyed their banter and smart ass jokes. Can’t wait for death to come out I really want to listen to it now lol.

Yes!

Another knock-it-out-of-the-park, new favorite by both the author and narrator. Thank you for a bright spot amidst this dastardly year! The book started with a bang, kept the action up throughout, and ended with a bang. Absolutely can’t wait for the next book!

Excellent, but.....

As with the prior Horsemen stories, this was excellent. My only issue is @12 hours in, a male narrator suddenly appears intermittently and his voice is just wrong for a Horseman. It’s not a good match. Loved the story and the female narrator. Can’t wait for Death’s story

Oh Laura

Gggiiirrrrllll!!!!! I absolutely loved this book! Ana was a beast of a heroine!! I must say that this one is now my favorite of the 3 so far. You better get to writing Death because I have a feeling you’re really going to go all out!
Ok so about the book. Famine read somewhat similarly to the first 2 books BUT there is just more! Ana is snarky, a fighter, and has a huge heart. Famine is an alphahole but Ana cracks that exterior. You can feel his feelings for her. Laura did great on the world building. I honestly feel like I took a trip without the jet lag.
Susannah doesn’t disappoint either. She is in my top 10 favorite narrators. Jay was new to me and his voice isn’t bad but I was not expecting Famine to sound like that.
Overall, this book is worth it! Get it and you won’t be disappointed!

i love it!!!

First:I really don’t know how to begin... this book shook my structures ... won me over in a way that hasn't happened in a while.
If I were to make a list of the best books I have ever read, this would certainly be among the chosen ones .... This is the kind of story that makes a booklover close the eyes and visualize each narrated moment. Do you know when you are reading a book and your mind is creating the images as if you were watching a movie? This is exactly what I felt with this book..
The author created for this book, two characters who have gone through various difficulties, and have shaped their personalities in order to protect themselves from the world. Famine becomes cruel, while Ana uses sarcasm. This combination becomes exciting as the story unfolds. Neither of them tries to change the other's way of being, but at the same time they try to provoke each other, creating sparks.
I was a little uncomfortable with the constant sexual references made by the character Ana. I thought it was a bit exaggerated. But I was delighted with the description made by the author with regard to the path that the characters take until they reach Taubaté. I know some of the cities mentioned, and it was impossible to imagine cities as desolate thieves. In fact, it is hard to imagine that all the advances in modernity are unknown to Ana. She only heard of her cell phone, car, plane, washing machine and dishwasher .... It’s hard imagine! And what about the narration? This spectacular! The tone of voice to demonstrate the emotions of each character, the way Famine uses the command to call Ana, and the innocent way in which she makes sexual references .... The narrator captured the essence of the characters and brought her afloat. And Famine's moments of contemplation, in which he is not responding .... it is impossible to describe the perfection of the scenes ....
I highly recommend this book, even if you haven't read the previous ones.
I can't wait to know the role Death will play in the whole outcome .... The ending is electrifying, and desperate.

enjoying this romance series

I'm enjoying the series and look forward to the conclusion. There's significantly more inner monologue than I actually need, but since I listen to this as a book on tape while I'm also home schooling my kids (on my earbuds) it's OK that there's some padding in there. There are some really twisted parts to all of these relationships, but I like the concept of redemptive love And the fact that these relationships are all marked with special divine purpose during the end of days. These are definitely not heathy relationships to aspire to. As others have stated it would be nice if the female characters had been given unique voices with accents appropriate to their region. I'm wondering how it's going to work to unite all of these characters together in the final book, Without being confused about who is talking.

Exact same book as the others except last hour!

If you read the first two book expect the same predictable and exact plot until the last hour. I love Laura thalassa but bang this book for predictable and the same. I will say the last hour made it exciting and set up the fourth book to have an entirely different plot line (hopefully). I will read the fourth one in hopes she takes the opportunity to use a new plot line.

Plants, death and attitude.

This has got to be my favourite series's of Laura Thalassa's, it's one of the most emotional yet terrifying stories I've ever read. Whilst not scary, the cruelty that humans are capable of seems much worse than the horsemen. Famine is by far the most sadistic of the three that's released, but he's so much more than just cruel and deadly. You really get a feel for the main characters, their pain, their struggles and all their frustrations. This book ends with a bang, so to speak. Waiting for the next one is going to be more painful than anything that I read in this series.

Can’t wait for book 4

I so hated Famine to start with he was an arrogant dick but he grew on me . I think it was his protective towards Anna and the revenge he took on those that hurt her meanwhile he still denied his feelings towards her. Anna tried to fight her feelings towards Famine she knew how evil he was but love won out in the end.
