Publisher's Summary

In the first in a dazzling new series, New York Times best-selling author Lorraine Heath introduces the Hellions of Havisham - three charismatic rogues destined to lose their hearts....

After six unsuccessful seasons, Miss Minerva Dodger chooses spinsterhood over fortune-hungry suitors. But thanks to the Nightingale Club, she can at least enjoy one night of pleasure. At that notorious establishment, ladies don masks before choosing a lover. The sinfully handsome duke of Ashebury is more than willing to satisfy the secretive lady's desires - and draws Minerva into an exquisite, increasingly intimate affair.

A man of remarkable talents, Ashe soon deduces that his bedmate is the unconventional Miss Dodger. Intrigued by her wit and daring, he sets out to woo her in earnest. Yet Minerva refuses to trust him. How to court a woman he has already thoroughly seduced? And how to prove that the passion unleashed in darkness is only the beginning of a lifetime's pleasure...?

Peculiar Leading Lady FTW

First Thought when Finished: Minerva from Falling in Bed with a Duke just became my favorite leading lady in Lorraine's connected series. I feel kinda bad because she knocked her mom down to 3rd!

Overall Thoughts:I freaking loved Minverva. I liked her brass and matter-of-fact way of looking at things. I also love that she is not a classic beauty. I already loved her parents but I was so glad to see them support her in every way. I have to say I liked her spirit too. Spinster or not--I am not sure I would have had the fortitude to visit the Nightengale. Ashe though I both loved and at moments really wasn't sure if he was good enough for her. At one point in the story, I was yelling at him to use his words! Since I both listened to and read this book (yep twice y'all)--the second time around I yelled at him louder LOL. Though I never doubted his awesomeness the second time around. If you like historicals with peculiar leading ladies then I think you will love Falling Into Bed with a Duke!

Audio Thoughts
Narrated By Helen Lloyd, Rich Cope/Length: 10 hrs and 5 mins

Normally Helen is paired up with James but I actually really enjoyed her narration with Rich. I think this is the first time I have listened to him and he did an excellent job. Helen always does an outstanding job. If she or Susan are narrating Lorraine's stuff, I know it will be excellent. I highly recommend this on audio.

Good Story

Some of the actions and lives of the characters do not correlate with how I believe London Society truly was - but overall it was an enjoyable read, and I plan to acquire the other two books.
I was a little disappointed in the narrator's performance, it was hard for me to hear a distinct difference for each person, and I couldn't fully distinguish the male narrator until the epilogue.

Good Story with Narration Problems

What made the experience of listening to Falling into Bed with a Duke the most enjoyable?

Very enjoyable story.

What did you like best about this story?

Plot and characters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Helen Lloyd and Rich Cope ’s performances?

No. Ms. Lloyd is an effective narrator when she is reading the general text, but she can't change her voice to represent different characters. That is a fatal problem. I couldn't even determine who was speaking.

Should have used both narrators

The book should have been read by both narrators the whole story for their respective parts in the story.

Wonderful story but Narrator wrong for the story.

I've loved all the Lorraine Heath novels I've listened to but I wish they would pick a younger sounding narrator. Helen Lloyd is wonderful but she sounds like she's in her 60's and the characters are in their 20's!! Otherwise, lovely story and will listen to the rest of the series.

good story, great couple

Duke is intrigued by a spinster at a secret house of pleasure. He wants to photograph her legs, she wants to be deflowered. She falters but manages to receive her very first kiss that night. But , oh what a kiss it was. He later uncovers her identity but still pursues her. She's like no other woman he's met. Is he like all the other suitors, only after her dowry? Minerva and Ashebury are truly meant to be but we know there are always obstacles to overcome . Interesting story line, good read, very likable characters.

Far from Heath’s best work

Lorraine Heath has written some very good books.

This is not one of them.

There was lots of potential here, the bones of a good story and interesting characters but the whole thing read like a draft that skipped an important editing stage.

If you want to try this author (I’d recommend it!) start with her sins for all seasons novels, and give this one a miss entirely.

I only got to chapter 4

I think the story would have been good but the narration was awful. I couldn't identify who was male/female, or who is speaking.
