Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun, when her mother suddenly arrived at the abbey to take her home...so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed. From the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy, sweet bride...and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. Crestfallen, she believes her disastrous life cannot get worse - until she awakes to the blasts of cannon fire. Facing certain death, Anne trembles in her stateroom while swords clash and the chilling screams of battle rage on the deck above. Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands welcomes listeners back to the Scottish Highlands, where a gallant warrior vows to protect a beautiful runaway.
Lady Murine Carmichael has known her share of bad luck. But when her debt-ridden half brother tries to sell her off in exchange for a few Scottish horses, it's the final straw. If keeping her freedom means escaping through harsh countryside alone, so be it. She has barely begun her journey when she lands an unlikely escort - the brawny Highlander who just refused to buy her virtue.
Dougall Buchanan was disgusted by Lord Danvries' shameful offer, but Murine tempts him beyond measure. Even bedraggled and dusty, the lass glows with beauty and bravery. Dougall wants to do more than just help her flee. He wants to protect her - with his life and his heart - if she'll only let him. For Murine may be pursued by a powerful foe, but nothing compares to the fiery courage of a Highlander in love.

Good but not great by Lynsay Sands
It's not one of my favorite books by Lynsay Sands. I took some time to be done with it. The characters was a bit boring, Which is a pity, given the storryline is ideal for a realy good book.

Contrived and Unbelievable
I love Lyndsay Sands however this was not well done, there was what was suppose to be suspense at every corner that was contrived as if there was no real plot. The h faints at the drop of a hat yet thinks nothing of seeing a strange man in the woods all the time, not once but several times and she says nothing. The h well naive to the point of stupidity while the H well nothing interesting about him either. It took 3 weeks to read when normally 2 days, however it just angered me, so I would put the book down or skip through the chapters to get past the contrived plot that was drawn out. There were to many major characters with speaking rolls also.

Loved Listening! Bring back the female narrators!
I've loved listening to book 1, 3, & 4 in this series, but have found the male narrators for the next two books so bad I couldn't get through the first chapters. I refurbish furniture and listen to a lot of books during in the day, and I'm really sad I'll have to skip the rest of this series. I really wish whoever hires Lynsay Sands historical romance narrators would go back to the female narrators they hired for the first few books. They are amazing, and I adored listening to those books!

Falling For The Highlander by Lynsay Sands (Audiobook)
Narrated by: Elle Newlands
Series: Highland Brides book 4
4 Stars - Lady Murine was a strong heroine, even when she has a weakness. Dougall was a great match, he cared for her, helped to cure her and stayed by her side. The two had good chemistry and I loved watching them fall in love.
Elle Newlands did a wonderful job as narration.

Narrator/accents Brings Story Alive
I LOVE her Argenaeu camp series and this is my first LS's historical romance book. So glad I got Audible and ebook for immersion reading • read with Scottish brogue which I definitely can't do in my head and do be character to life Like a movie in my imagination. Love it. Very different from the paranormal romances but in a good way. I'm excited to read more about the highlander clans, more Bucchans finding their soulmate and not skimping on intrigue and recommend getting the Audible narration of you have a spare credit .

got to love the highlanders
What made the experience of listening to Falling for the Highlander the most enjoyable?
I enjoy the settings, the time period of the book and that it is another member of a family that were in other books. I also appreciated i was not sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the book. The lead lady was naive but intelligent if somewhat headstrong.
What other book might you compare Falling for the Highlander to and why?
I have enjoyed the highlander series that Sands has written and hope she finishes by each Buchanan brother having his own book. I enjoy the humor Sands puts into her books, Sometimes events appear contrived due to writing or editing, who knows.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Pretty much but i listen to my books while knitting or other needle work. I also listen while doing quiet jobs such as weeding, cooking, sewing, ironing etc. So depending on the size of the job, i may get to listen to the book in one sitting and this one i would have continued to the end with interest.

Gotta love those highlanders!
The author of this audiobook often adds humor into her romances and her stories make you feel like you are there in their time period. The heroine, Murine, has a bad habit of fainting with any sudden movement or stress. Her English half brother plans to bargain her away for money to pay for his gambling habit, so she runs away. Stumbling upon a group of Highland men who just disgustedly left her brothers house after a failed deal for selling a horse, she begins to travel with them. The men happen to know her dear friends in Scotland and agree to take her there. One of the men, Dougal, takes a liking to her and wants to marry her since her brother gambled away her dowry and her prospects are now poor for a good marriage. While traveling they are beset up by many problems, including someone trying to kill her! Narration was perfectly done.

I felt I needed to write a review as an earlier negative review put me off listening to this book for months. I loved the 3 earlier books of this series so felt compelled to complete the set in the end.
I am so glad I did!! I just LOVED it!
It's funny, sweet and charming. Lynsey Sands knows how to write a great book.

Not much is happening
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not really, it was an easy listen, but nothing to recommend.
If you’ve listened to books by Lynsay Sands before, how does this one compare?
My favourite is Loving daylights, of this series An english bride is my favourite and much better.
What does Elle Newlands bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I think I would not have read the whole book, but listening it while doing something else did mean I did finish it after all.
Was Falling for the Highlander worth the listening time?
I listen to books while I am doing stuff arround the house and it is hard to find enough stuff to listen to, so it was ok.
Any additional comments?
There were some strands in the story that where not followed up, which I always find annoying.
