Publisher's Summary

Book 5 of the Demon Accords.

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Sometimes it's just best to get the hell out of Dodge. After turning an ancient vampire to dust and stirring the Coven into a mob of pitchfork-and-torch-bearing vampires, Chris Gordon thinks it might be time for a road trip. So, leaving Tanya to calm the troubled masses, he heads south to help a North Carolina pack with some demon troubles. But with beautiful Stacia Reynolds in the shotgun seat and his trusty companion, Awasos, Chris just might find more trouble out of the Big Apple than in it as he follows the blacktop south. It's demons and witches and bears, oh my.

OMG amazing

James Patrick Cronin does a fantastic job narrating this whole series. It is easily the best paranormal adventure romance series available. I own all of the series and to date of my review is 20. The books have strong characters with love adventure romance and worthy villains. All types of my favourite types of paranormals are here. It is a smorgasbord of awesome. I know there are lots of books in the series and not one is a dud. They are all long enough to really give you everything you want in a book. I can't recommend them enough.

These books give you what you want

If you like a book about a hero who is a kicks butt gets the girl keeps the girl and has no compunction about killing bad guys instead of letting them go to just to come back again and again. which is the very definition of insanity then this is the book series for you my friend. Oh and did I mention the girl kick butt too. Dig in you won't be disappointed in this one.

ugh.

I hate it when these books end. I know the next in the series is avaliable but still.....I want to climb in the pages and hang out with Chris and Taunya. These books are to short, which I guess for the author is a good problem to have.

Like previous book, but this one is frustrating (spoiler)

Spoiler look away now.

Amnesia? Frustrating...it's a lame excuse to start over with the storyline and add personal relationship tensions. Weak, and frustrating for a reader who has gone through this much character development already

not the best of the series

The narration was terrific, per usual. I wasn't a fan of this particular book, but I still enjoy the series. You could *almost* skip this one. Maybe find a summary online.

Beats Points To Death & Internal Monologue Woes

So i finished this book... disappointed at what could have been.

I'll preface this by saying the book was still enjoyable and i will keep reading, but there were some poor decisions made that just pulled you out of the story and in general detracted from the experience.

Narration:
James is yet again fine for Narrating the book. He does his job well. Not a revolutionary performance or anything. Just a steady showing from him.
4 Stars

Story:
As far as the direction this novel took it was a good way to push forward the overall plot of the Series.... but that's what this book was meant to do. As a self contained read it was pretty choppy and sort of all over the place. Things just sort of happened when explanation was really needed in advance. The handy tool of foreshadowing was sorely lacking.
This is the equivalent of a superhero movie just made to push the universe forward and put good storytelling in the back seat.
It is at best average when past novels have done a much better job. Even book 4 was better and i thought that was a drop from the first 3 in the series.
The ending and final boss was handled with little care. The final villain of this Novel despite the build up was just a prop piece when it came down to it to further awe us of what Chris can do. Which would be fine if John didn't forget a bunch of what Chris can do leading to horribly circular problem solving when Chris could do one thing we've already seen him do to easily solve the situation.
3 Stars

Internal Monologues:
Chris has a huge internal monologue problem. I know this is to further enhance his whole split persona thing but it has been taken too far at this point.
Whenever Grim takes over we get the most broken fight scenes ever. We will have Chris fighting something then the next moment he is making comments about Tanya or other attractive women. It is jarring. It was a cool tool when used in moderation but now that some variation of his Internal Disrupting Monologue is used several times in any encounter it has gotten so old. John was shining this little tool of his so much that the sheen has come right off and there is no shine anymore.

Also Chris has an issue with speaking super possessively and its trying to be passed of as cute... and i just don't see it.
"And my Vampire did this" He is archaic in the way he speaks of those close to him. This isn't a point to detract from the Novel just something that sorta takes me out of focus whenever he says it trying to be cute when it really isn't... it's just creepy.

Great Listen!!

Any additional comments?

There is little I can add to what others have already written. Great story, great narration and an ending with lots of possibilities! Can't wait for the next.

5 in 7 days

I don't usually dont write any reviews and I pretty much don't read any before I pick a book to listen to, however I just read or should I say listen to the 5th of 12 books in this collection in 7 days!
I don't think that too much more needs to be said about this collection, because everyone will have their own opinion, but if you have ever binge listened to 5 books in 7 days with the overwhelming excitement you get when ready to start another then you know exactly how amazing this collection is

Another great chapter in the Chris Gordon saga

I continue to enjoy journeying along with Chris Gordon on his trek of discovering what new powers he manifests as he continues to fight all the various powers of evil. This is the fifth book in the urban fantasy Demon Accord series. I love that Christian/Chris’ character, despite his unique overwhelming powers, is still sweet, a bit naive, and modest which makes him a likeable hero. Chris is a demon fighter. Due to the unique abilities he was born with, he all can see demons, remove them from their host or location, and banish them back to hell. He also has been infected with the virus that causes vampires and weres to exist but he’s neither a vampire nor a were. His girlfriend is the strongest and most revered vampire in the world. In this book Chris goes back to focusing mostly on demon banishing but while doing so is shot in the head and loses two years of memories. This adds an interesting twist to the journey. The book has the same main characters from the first three books with some new characters added into the mix. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. Like the other books, every time Chris is confronted with a new threat, he develops a new or stronger power and kills them in 3 seconds. Despite knowing this, it does not change the enjoyment of the story. James Patrick Cronin continues to do a wonderful job narrating this book. I will definitely keep reading the series.

Loved this series

Loved this series. Its even better how the narrator gives a voice to each character and you really feel all emotions from his voices, joy, sadness, humor, this has lead me to by the rest of this series and lots more books the narrator does.

inconsistencies

commissioner Riley was commissioner Kane in demon driven?! Chris tells Stacia his contact is an angel, then shortly after he's surprised that she knows, these inconsistencies abound throughout the books. but they're still great mostly.
