Fans of Crescent City and Scarlett St. Clair will be swept into a world of ruthless fae, forbidden romance, and treacherous bargains.

One fae prince. One deadly bargain. And a mortal caught between desire and damnation.

Cate thought she knew darkness. As a trauma nurse, she had witnessed the worst of humanity. But nothing could have prepared her for the fae underworld. A realm where beauty is a weapon, desire is a trap, and mortals who stray too far don't return. She almost didn't.

Until Lachlan Gage—shadowed, ruthless, and feared—bound her to him with a deadly bargain. As the prince of New Orleans and ruler of the Nether Court, he is as much a curse as he is salvation. And with the Wild Hunt at his heels and war stirring, even his protection may not be enough. Because Cate is more than just his reluctant mortal. She is wanted.

But something ancient is rising, warping fae magic into something unnatural and cruel. It has nothing to do with Cate's past—or so she tells herself.

There is only one thing more dangerous than the fae who would kill for her. The fae who would die for her. And Lachlan Gage has never been one to lose.

Contains mature themes.

Narrators and story are great but if I had known there was a book 3 coming I might have waited 😏

Still incredibly slow to deliver action or a plot, but a slight improvement from the first book. This one starts off with a lot of excitement, but drifts off into filler around Chapt 15. Then we are back to the incredibly boring and slow pace of the first novel. Characters who, chapter after chapter, refuse to talk to each other...both the MFC and the MMC seem to forget the plot. There is a lot of repetition. Nothing goes anywhere...feels like the author is purposefully dragging things out, in order to effect a book 3 money grab (?). It is not entertaining when the characters are so obtuse and dysfunctional, you find yourself grinding your teeth. By Chapt 30, all of the character's voices sound the same. Accents and inflections long abandoned by the narrator.

Genuinely Frustrating
