About this listen
WANTED: Three fake boyfriends. Must be tall, handsome—and willing to teach me how to kiss.
My name is Layla Thompson, and I am undateable.
Seriously. I'm 28 and I've never had a boyfriend. And with my 30s rapidly approaching, I'm starting to lose patience.
Lucky for me, I have three best friends who are eager to help hone my dating skills. Zack, the rugged ex-rugby player. Josh, the sweet boy-next-door. And Luke, the silver-haired divorcee...who just so happens to be my old professor.
After a bad date leaves me crying on their shoulders, the three men are determined to help me find a guy. Together, they agree to be my "practice boyfriends" and come up with a lesson plan packed with fake dates, make out sessions, and classes on flirty texting. In return, I just have to make an appearance on their relationship advice podcast once a week. Easy.
But as my lessons become more and more intense, we soon find ourselves getting in too deep. Every "fake" touch lingers a little too long, and every "practice" kiss ends in fireworks. It's not long before I realize that their friendship isn't enough for me anymore. I want more.
The guys have been teaching me how to get a boyfriend, and now it's time I put their lessons to the test. Three times over.
Faking with Benefits is a sizzling fake dating romance featuring multiple love interests, tons of molten fake relationship heat, and a whole lot of heart. Dual narrated by Faye Adele, Shane East, Will Watt, and John York, with select excerpts performed in duet. HEA guaranteed!
The performance was really really confusing.
The story is more interesting than expected, all complex characters. MFC is actually very strong and impressive at NOT letting the men gaslight her when they truly f*ck up. The garden scene is awful, but really impressed at how strong she is.
Very much a "us against the world" kinda book. HEA though (which 2/3 into the book you actually don't want because some of the guys are absolutely awful).
Why only duel narration for podcast sections?!

The narration during the podcast is dual.....but then everything else was duet and with so many characters I found it so hard to follow who was what. I would have much preferred the entire thing was just dual narration so I at least knew who was speaking.
Storyline was cute - very spicy (3.5-4 chilli peppers) which is fun, it includes second-act breakup which brings the whole value of the plot down for myself personally.
Mixed Dual/Duet gave me whiplash

I loved all her other books but this one just wasn’t for me. I can’t deal with second hand embarrassment which is why I had DNFed this before. I picked it back up because this was on sale and I saw loads of people say this was their favourite Lily Gold book. It was really uncomfortable at a lot of points. And the ending was incredibly disappointing.
Didn’t love it
