Slaughter has the money-shot gore but her most visceral writing is when she is simply ratcheting up the suspense.The slow build up of one scene featuring Tolliver, a suspect and two cups of hot coffee is brilliant, especially when it takes off in an unexpected direction. Great cliffhanger ending too

Unfortunately I couldn’t find an audiobook unabridged version. It was clearly missing most of the story, the characters had no depth and the history behind all the events was distinctly absent. Would have been a great story had it not been so scathingly edited. Very disappointing.

Abridged which made it terrible

I had previously read this excellent story in its entirety, and was disappointed to find only the abridged version available on Audible.
I should have passed it by.
The missing parts are pivotal to the story and to the atmosphere. Even though I knew the story, I was often confused and disrupted by the chopped flow.
Lesson learned. Any further abridged versions will be avoided.

Don't buy this abridged version, it's rubbish.
