Publisher's Summary

THE SUNDAY TIMES Music Book of the Year

Faith, Hope and Carnage is a meditation on faith, art, music, freedom, grief and love.

Created from more than forty hours of intimate conversations with the journalist Seán O’Hagan, it is a profoundly thoughtful exploration, in Cave’s own words, of what really drives his life and creativity. The audiobook has been recorded so that the listener, especially when playing through headphones, sits between Cave and O’Hagan.

The book draws candidly on Cave’s life, from his early childhood to the present day, his loves, his work ethic and his dramatic transformation in recent years. The audiobook features 16 musical codas and elements from the Carnage, Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen albums. It also includes an exclusive, additional 12-minute conversation between Cave and O’Hagan about the production of the recording.

Faith, Hope and Carnage offers ladders of hope and inspiration from a true creative visionary.

Brilliant

With the recent bereavement of my own juvenile son, i found this book enormously comforting, intriguing & helpful through my own sad reality. Marvelous flowing questions & direction from Sean, what a pro & such meaningful honest answers from NC.
Im certain to listen to this book again & again.
I feel my sadness has somewhat been lifted by this work.
Thankyou Mr Cave & Mr O'Hagan.

Beautiful, Poetic, Raw

I rarely leave book reviews, but I just had to get my thoughts out there to the world. I listened to this audiobook over a few days, and I just couldn't stop listening to it. Nick, you have a way of talking, like a poem, so articulate, you make sense of things, of things that make little sense, like religion, life and especially death. Also, Sean as the interviewer is brilliant and calming. This book moved me. Thank you, Nick and Sean, for sharing these intimate conversations with the world!

Extraordinarily honest deep dive

Generous, brave, undefended and loving reflections from the extraordinary Nick Cave in response to fireside questions of a friend who dares to ask.

Beautifully put

Enjoyed immensely, brought to tears, will listen again and again and again. Nick sees the world with such love & openness, he’s a true wonder of the world himself.

Boring , but then ,,,,,

Within the first 10 minutes of listening to this I thought , this is going to be boring , and put it down .
Two days later I thought , I better give it another go and became completely enthralled by the lilting Irish sound of Sean’s voice and the depth of Nicks answers
I’m not a Nick Cave rabid fan but like a handful of songs and some of his writing ( Ass saw an Angel). But his vulnerable honesty in revealing his inner thoughts on life dispel any media myth or rock n roll legend built up over the years
It is the inner workings of a man trying to live a considered and thoughtful life
Coming to grips with grief and death and finding his way thru
This book has given me a lot of things to examine in my own life The epilogue then ties it all together
Thank you Nick Cave for being
