Engaging

This series did capture us very well. Even after all 4 books are finished, I still think of Lola like a long lost friend.

Christian Fox's voice ....

WOW! Christian Fox does an amazing job narrating this. I definitely need to look into other books he has narrated!

The books are quite short so easy to digest (plus I could listen to Christians voice all day). Good if you like a Revenge and Redemption style plot.

The first 3 books are pretty good, the last one was a massive disappointment. It wasn't necessary to talk the reader through a roadtrip across the US for majority of the book. The ending (the redemption and reuniting bit) was quickly rushed and wrapped up in the final 15 minutes of the series. It gave the impression that the author wasn't committed to her characters story/happy ending. The rushed ending tarnished the whole overall story and experience, and made me regret the 18.5 hours commitment I just gave her.

Added stars for Christians performance though ;)

Hooked from the start.

Obsession to this series is an understatement. I became hooked 10 minutes into the first chapter. Jessica Hawkins has such an incredible talent for writing. Listening to this, I feel like I was torn apart and put back together piece by piece. The way Jesicca writes with so much emotion to each sentence is amazing. Christian Fox narrating was just the perfect icing on the cake. Simply outstanding. This series will be one I re listen to again and again.

Wow

Read this book in a collection of the series.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and had me wishing for more at the end.
They both learnt about themselves through the love they had for each other. Some tough lessons and lots of loving. As I knew the book was nearing the end I just was hoping it never ended.
Would of loved to of have an epilogue.
Narration was awesome too.

A lesson on intimacy!

I really loved this book up to the ending. Yes, I know it says that it is four books, but really, it’s a single novel that was previously released as a novel released in four sections for additional financial gain. If you had listened/bought all four separately, you would have been subject to three and a half cliffhangers. What’s a half cliffhanger? It’s when a novel abruptly ends after the resolution of the major conflict, there is no epilogue and leaves so many unanswered questions. The major conflict is between the Hero and Heroine, in this book, and I hate that as soon as they clear the air between them, the book ends. Am I the only consumer who wants to experience a few of the good times, the couple shares, after they have smoothed out their relationship? Is that really too much to ask?

This book has excellent character development. The Hero has the most growth but so does the Heroine and the Hero’s sister. This book paints a clear picture of “intimacy” , not sex but the actual spiritual connection between two people; it was beautiful.

Since all four sections were included in this selection, I felt it was a good value and had no problem surrendering one of my precious credits, to get it. Had it been separated into separate purchases, like it was originally released, I would have felt that the cost of four credits would not have been a sound financial investment.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST AUDIOBOOK I’VE EVER LISTEN TO

This is my opinion and I’ve tried not to give any spoilers to this rollercoaster epic love story.

I have over 2000 audiobooks in my library and this book, God this book, is at the very top of them ALL.. surpassing well-loved authors, authors I’ve been following for years and authors who’ve given me many many hours of listening pleasure. But this book absolutely owned my heart and soul.. it took me on an uncharted journey.. its unpredictable drama had me needy for more more more. Its unforeseen twists sucker-punched me.. its heartbreaking revelations broke my heart.. its complex multi-layered characters had me changing allegiances over and over again. Its inevitable break-up had me convinced no amount of time, distance or saying sorry would heal the damage done to their shattered hearts.. its impressive character growth was huge. Its passion had me swooning.. its romance had me sighing while dreamily hoping it would last.. it’s scorching sex scenes had me blushing.. and its final raw heartachingly beautiful scenes had me praying that it would never end.

The outstanding dual POV sexy narration by droolworthy Christian Fox brought the well-written chapters to life, the pace of the story was perfect, the descriptive scenes enabled me to paint vivid colorful mental images and, the ‘indecent proposal’ plot blew me away as it twisted and turned into something very different, I hung onto every single word and absolutely nothing could tear me away from its emotionally charged chapters.

Worth a credit? Oh this is the easiest answer in the world to give... one million x yes.

Whatever Lola wants ... 4 1/2 stars worth.

This is the complete series (4 books) of the Explicitly Yours series, telling the story of Beau Oliver and Lola (Melody) Winters.
There is only one narrator for the entire series; only one was needed. Christian Fox is the complete package when it comes to telling a story with both male and female voices. He reads just the right amount of joy, anger, fear, anxiety, despair, hurt, sex and passion into all the roles. There were times I was sure there had to be another reader in the booth with him when the recording was made. He is just that good and I hope the romance writers community use him more and more.
The story follows Lola and Johnny who have been in a committed relationship for over 5 years. They worked at a once trendy bar; Johnny ran the bar or the absent owner and Lola was a server. All their friends were married, some had children. Johnny didn't take their relationship any further because they were living paycheck to paycheck, despite Lola saying she didn't want or need a big wedding. Johnny wanted to give her more.
Enter Beau one evening, making an unusual offer to give them $500,000, enough to buy the bar. There was just one caveat.
I thought of the Robert Redford movie, Indecent Proposal and the offer of money for "one night" with Lola. While the story starts there it quickly diverges and blooms into a rich story of loss, loneliness, right and wrong decisions, mistakes of the young, work addiction, revenge, regret, and love. Beau and Lola ignite the pages with passion, obsession and need.
This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Good story but the ending...

This was a great series until the ending...the ending, although a happy one felt unfinished and rushed. There should have been a few more chapters at least! There was this big build up and then this quick end. I also expected there to be an epilogue. Why wasn't there one? The ending does not fit the series at all. I spent almost 19 hours of my life listening to this series...a little dissapointed.

Very good except the ending

I loved this audiobook. The story was great the narration was really great but I didn’t really like the way it ended. Too abruptly. I wanted a least a tiny glimpse of the characters future.

At last a ‘strong’ heroine who is actually worth admiring!

I’m of two minds about this book. Reviewers are right to draw comparisons to Indecent Proposal, for the first half of the story it is the same. It only strikes off into new territory in the second half.

It seemed that some of the key elements in the plot were rushed while there was a lot of time spent on what I thought were picayune, and boring, details. The ‘big reveal’ about Beau’s motivation, details about what happened with Johnny and Bridgette really weren’t fleshed out. I’m usually unhappy with books that are too short but in this case I thought the second half dragged out a little long only to end abruptly without closing off several loose ends.

All that said we finally have a female who is strong, intelligent and confident and her actions demonstrate those characteristics. Unlike many books in this genre where the author and reviewers claim the heroine is strong but the opposite is true in this story Lola is actually someone to be admired.

Watching Lola take back control and teach Beau a lesson saved this story for me.

WOW!! So Intriguing..So gripping

This is my first Jessica Hawkins story and I am so intrigued. I finished the 1st book in like a day and now Im on book 2. Im not even finished with the while series yet but the amount of tension and complexity is just brilliant! This is so well written. And Christian Fox is such a wonderful narrator.

Me prematurely writting this review before I going through the whole series is because Im in the middle of an intense scene with Johnny and Lola and I just cant. *on the edge of my seat* Oh Lord!

Okay now that I got that off my chest....back to the story ;)

***UPDATE*** I loved this story so much. I have no words simple words without rambling so I will just say I highly recommend this series to any and everyone. Jessica Hawkins has a new forever fan. I will definitely read/listen to more from this author....and narrator :)

Beautiful job well done

What a clusterf---....

*Sigh* The first half was sexy, limitless, and one of discovery.

This story takes a turn the MOMENT Beau confesses his "revenge" focus reasons and wants to be honest and admit he did fall for Lola, that's where this story tanks. HARD! Suddenly this becomes an eye for an eye story where you instantly begin to dislike Lola for becoming the very person that hurt her and rationalizes it because she was "hurt". This story becomes very dysfunctional the moment it isn't about opening up oneself to sexually exploration and turns to a tactic for revenge. They aren't lovers or companions, they are psychologically dysfunctional and in desperate need therapists! Half way through I hated Lola. She's wanted to blame Beau for a game she was a willing participant of. She knew her stakes, she knew he was exactly who he said he was. As a retort, she becomes a vindictive who becomes obsessed with punishing Beau over and over again until she became a pathetic martyr by her own hand, proving she was no more than a mentally juvenile child. At the end, she claims she wanted to "gut him of his dignity," and yet she lost her own dignity and integrity in order to make that happen. In the end, the moral of the story did prove that money changes you. Lola needed the money after all because she couldn't torture Beau without it, making her nothing more than a b**** in a Lotus on a road trip. Johnny pimped Lola out just for money and then when he had it, he spent it like it was water, after he didn't have to lift a finger to earn it. Beau was a slave to his own success that came with the money and it fed his need of power. By the end, I was exhausted and hated everyone character. EVERY. DAMN. CHARACTER! In the end, everyone should've just walked away from each other.

I finished it frustrated and aggravated and Lola proved she was unworthy of anyone. The fact she became that severe, makes me fear for her children, future, and showing she didn't have to change back to the open, sassy woman she was before. She didn't even have to apologize to him, but she demanded he apologize to her.

Not worth the credit. I'll be returning this one. I'll be gun shy to get something from this author ever again.
However, Christian Fox is always worth listening too. 😉

WOW! So good!!!

Wow, this was so good! I'm so in love with this story. I loved Beau and Lola. They were relatable in a way that they feel so real like they could be someone you actually know, especially Lola. I can imagine many a multi-millionaire be like Beau.

I was capture from the start and hang on to every single word. I even paused between book 2 and 3 to go read the novella which is in Beau's POV. It's a really short read but you get to go into his head for a little bit.

I LOVE the fact that Christian Fox narrated this from start to finish, he was amazing and did a really great job putting on all the different voices. I don't think this book would have been as great for me if it was narrated by a female voice.

I highly recommend this, along with Jessica's Something in the Way and City Scape series!

Wow.

Amazing story, amazing performance. The tension Jessica Hawkins creates is wonderful. I loved the two lead characters, their flaws creating a gripping story from start to finish. I just wish there was an epilogue, I wanted to be witness to their HEA in a few years down the line but alas I will have to create that image in my head.
This was my first Jessica Hawkins audio book set - it will not be that last!

🔥Hot, steamy, unforgettable story

The first part of this story was reminiscent of Indecent Proposal, but ends there. I couldn’t put this intense series down, it totally held me captive. I try not to add spoilers in my reviews, but I have to mention, I did not like Johnny for multiple reasons, glad Lola dumped that loser.
I also want to mention, it was nice to be able to listen to a whole series at once instead of having to wait for each release.
Christian Fox did a fantastic job narrating this series.
