About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Jack Reacher will make three stops today. Not all of them were planned for.

First – a Baltimore coffee shop. A seat in the corner, facing the door. Black coffee, two refills, no messing around. A minor interruption from two of the customers, but nothing he can’t deal with swiftly. As he leaves, a young guy brushes against him in the doorway. Instinctively Reacher checks the pocket holding his cash and passport. There's no problem. Nothing is missing.

Second – a store to buy a coat. Nothing fancy. Something he can ditch when he heads to warmer climates. Large enough to fit a man the size of a bank vault. As he pulls out his cash, he finds something new in his pocket. A handwritten note. A desperate plea for help.

Third – wherever this bend in the road takes him. Impressed by the guy's technique and intrigued by the message, Reacher makes it his mission to find out more . . .

We all need Jack Reacher – a righteous avenger for our troubled times.

Listen to an exclusive interview between Lee Child and Jeff Harding at the end of this audiobook. For the first time, Lee Child and Jeff Harding talk about bringing Reacher to life in audio and celebrate the 30th Reacher adventure.

As a frequent audiobook listener with more than 330 titles under my belt—and having heard every Reacher book in audio format—I was really looking forward to listening to this . However, I found this particular instalment more challenging to follow than usual. The sheer amount of interwoven plots and the number of characters made it quite complex to listen to, especially when multitasking. It demanded a level of concentration that isn’t always easy to give when enjoying an audiobook on the go. I’m curious whether other readers or listeners had a similar experience.
Was it the best Reacher novel I’ve listened to? For me, probably not. It really comes down to personal taste, but this storyline just didn’t grab me the way others have. It didn’t spark the usual curiosity or pull me into the intrigue I’ve come to expect from the series. Normally, I’m so hooked that I’ll binge-listen for hours, but this time that feeling never quite arrived.
That said, Jeff Harding once again deserves huge praise. His narration is outstanding, and hearing his voice always feels like slipping right back into the world of Jack Reacher. He truly brings the character to life.
Despite my mixed feelings about this installment, I’m already looking forward to the next Reacher adventure.

Love the Reacher series, but this just isn’t it. Tough to finish.
I hate to say it but I think Lee should come back for one big finale where Reacher doesn’t save the day, or meets up with his son Jack Widow and stop the production of this kind of mediocre product.

Bring back Lee

The story was great and I watched the killing fields and I wonder if there’s more available on Amazon prime video.

Reacher himself

I enjoyed the multiple portions of story line that culminate in a single thrilling end point. Another Reacher classic, keep them coming.

Classic Reacher 👍.

Lee Child has handed over to his brother and the Reacher stories are not in the same league despite his protestations in the interview at the end, that the transition is seamless. Reacher is very dull in this one and so are the other characters. And story. The complete lack of quality descriptions of landscape and geography also significantly diminishes the reading experience. I simply don’t think Andrew Grant who is much younger than his brother, relates to geography. Earlier Reacher novels created the terrain in vivid dimensions…… not so these latter ones. There is also way too much repetition of the Reacher philosophic mantras. What a bummer.

Disappointing
