Executive:A Thriller,

I loved this book. The storyline kept me completely engrossed. An edge of your seat mystery. The narrator was a perfect fit for this story. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a corporate government thriller.

Intriguing

Scale of one to ten, probably 8. It pretty good.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alex. She was smart and she was intriguing.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she was trying to figure out what to wear to dinner first time she was going to the boss's place.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Only when Walker was having a fit of sorts at Alex's, first corporate meeting. Wanted to throw something at him.

Scary Executives

This is the first book I've read by Leslie Wolfe. I started out with the audio book because I have such a long drive but was so into the story that I just had to by the ebooks version to read while I wasn't driving. omg, this book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. it's very scary to think of stuff like this happening. the characters are so very well developed, I feel like I know them. some are really scary. the narrator was good. There were just a few times it sounded kind of like a computer voice but not much. I know one thing, I will for sure be buying all this author's books or audiobooks.

I liked the idea behind the story

I really wanted to like this book more. I liked the idea behind the story, I liked the main character, all the characters actually but there were just so many times that the language just didn't seem to fit.
It seemed too stiff somehow with too many extra words or too many old fashioned words.
The book is set pretty much in today's world but I felt like the characters from from 50 years ago sometimes the way they spoke.
This was quite distracting and took away from the story quite a bit for me.
The story is one of intrigue but I just had a hard time wading through it and really struggled to finish. I only finished it as it was a gift copy in return for my honest review.
I don't think it was the narrator, I found him to be very efficient and his character voices were just fine, it was the language and the words in the writing.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review honestly.

Good bones for a story, but...

This story frustrated me. I did not like the weakness of the heroine, it was inconsistent with the beginning of the story. She comes across as a total airhead, extremely naive in some critical parts of the story, made no sense. The story had great potential but there was no “bang!”, there should have been a point when the heroine stopped sniveling and engaged her brain and directed the story. Instead the author filled pages with fluff. The other issue I had was with the narrator, unfortunately for this story it was a horrible match. I felt that his reading was much too feminine and gave way to a “storybook “ type of reading. Again, story had great potential but fell flat for me. Regardless I will see if the author makes up for it in the second book.

Bad audio

I don't think I really have this book a chance, because I think the audio was horrible. I think it was a good story, but how many times does the reader need to know the story is in San Diego? Also, ahem I came back after stopping reading, it always took me to the wrong place. It wasn't even consistent on where it took me. Sometimes to parts I had already heard. And sometimes beyond where I had reached. Not fun trying to get back to where I actually was so many times.

B For Plot D- For Execution

There was definitely promise here but the characters were underdeveloped and the constant plodding explanation of every term, including many in the common vernacular, was off-putting to say the least. Nothing felt natural, not the writing, nor the inevitable characteristics that would elevate our heroine or her employers. I finished the book but mostly to put it behind me.

Stiff

Too much of the book was organizational behavior 101 without critical assessment of assumptions regarding human motives. The narrator was boring. The story was still interesting until the silly ending.

A Sharp Taunt Thriller !

I love a sharp dose of authenticity - when a story is told arrow-straight and fiction feels like reality, when you may have never been to a certain place or met someone like the character you're reading, and yet you feel the narrative's truth. Leslie Wolfe definitely has a gift for this...in spades. In Executive the writing is tensile-taut, the story lines are interwoven seamlessly, and all the gory details are nicely intact.

An intricate plot and fleshy, memorable characters, the expressive narrative and relentless pacing will no doubt cause Executive to be remembered as indeed one of the best action and suspense story.
